This was made public today live on Telemundo’s @lamesacaliente where MUO owner & president Raul Rocha announced these news.
77 year-old Sousa is considered to be the driving force behind the large number of Miss Venezuelas who have also made it to the Miss World, Miss Universe, Miss International, and Miss Earth pageants. With over 20 crowns under his belt, the beauty guru has gained world fame and recognition including a Guiness World Record. However, he is also known for a few controversies (including the 2015 Nuestra Belleza Latina prostitution scandal – google it).
After stepping down as president of Miss Venezuela, he ran his own pageant “El Concurso” which also allowed married women, mothers, trans women and also had a special sub competition for women between 40 and 60 years-old.
In today’s interview he addressed the new Miss Universe rules allowing married women, mothers and women of any age to participate saying “The new rules can continue but with even with all those things, they must be beautiful.” – MISSUUPDATES via Instagram

The Miss Universe brand should be returned to an American owner. American entertainment organizations may have their share of controversies but they have the ability and consistency to manage international pageants and give a good show. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Osmel spoke the truth. Back then, it was about superifical beauty. But that was not all he did. He made the girls frontrunners from their walk to interview. If you have a problem with that Rina, stop tolerating hatred against trans and inclusivity towards women because it's breeding misogyny.

MU never should have allowed trans women in the first place. Miss Pageants should be for Miss Contestants. That's why we have different divisions, so everyone is on an equal playing field. Maybe allowing women who have been divorced and raising the age limit to 32 would have been nice but MU needs a leader who understands the business of beauty. Who understand what the public wants to see, not what we say we want to see but what we really want to see, and what these women want out of this experience.
With AI we cant trust "leak videos." The videos were blurry, and who knows if the audio is authentic. Maybe Kensginton Palace released the audio. We can't trust it.
It already lost it's prestige.
I think with Osmael at the MUO, the diversity candidates (fat, trans, married, old, and divorce women) will only be an addition to the list if delegates but would not win. They will only crown the most beautiful. But that make business sense TBH.

I wish there was a peaceful protest right now, because this board is becoming so incredibly racist, sexist, misogynistic, calculated, and bad in faith.
If there was a miss universe contestant with Down syndrome and was criticized for not being beautiful, or having the perfect face, body etc. I would be outraged. Because living with a learning disability myself, that takes away empowerment of all human beings.

Recently, everything about Ms Universe brand seem regressive – an insult to today's evolved and empowered women in pageantry and the fans that support and love them.
Also, how contradictory it is! They started up with things like accepting pretty much everyone (trans, mothers, women of any age and weight etc.) because we need to be inclusive, 'cause inner beauty is important, not just the stereotypical one… To literally OSMEL SOUSA lol 😂 like.. "we were joking, inner beauty doesn't exist, just pretty face and body and that's it".
MU has no credibility, its a circus, I have no hope for this pageant's deterioration,
