Throughout the 70-something year history of Miss Universe there have been many ICONIC Miss Universe winners. The very first, Armi Kuusela of Finland who was Miss Universe 1952, Gloria Diaz from the Philippines who was Miss Universe 1969 and Janelle Commissiong who was the first Miss Universe of African descent crowned at Miss Universe 1977.

However, this video is based on Social Media following (specificaly on Instagram) therefor it might not be the most accurate representation of the contemporary popularity of individual Miss Universes and should be taken with a grain of salt.

Mentioned:

Miss Universe 1994 – Sushmita Sen – India
Miss Universe 2006 – Zuleyka Rivera – Puerto Rico
Miss Universe 2010 – Ximena Navarette – Mexico
Miss Unieverse 2012 – Olivia Culpo – USA

  1. You know why Pia is the 1 most followed Miss Universe because her IG is very entertaining 😊

In terms of relatability she's the one.
On her IG she shared her dorkiness, inspirational, tips, advocacy and Love life… 💕

  2. Catriona Gray of the Philippines is iconic and the best Miss Universe, ever! Imho! She has set the bar higher. She served as an inspiration to many women out there and she’s just a total package! Stunning, sophisticated, classy and smart as hell. She loves her country fiercely and so proud, it’s just remarkable!

  3. yes, the unfortunate event made Pia popular but partly also due to her attitude, she congratulated Miss Colombia, when Pia (well of us did) thought she won, then still smiled and was gracious while being booed by the Colombians and being snubbed by her fellow contestants after the correction..A truly amasing person Pia was.

  4. The Queen Khun Anne! She's just there! Agree. A tycoon with a mission to 'turn pain into power' (her life story), with a sweet vengeance. She can't help it. Notice how she punches the air every time, with that 'don't you dare' pointy finger to the crowd, every time she says something about women empowerment and leadership? It has that masculine energy. And, to be front and center, that s/he's as, if not more, beautiful as any MU Titleholder. Hmmm … it is hard for her to get off the stage. If she wants to help all women, not just transgenders', would she put her money, mind, and voice, from the gains of the MU platform on very urgent issues like girls' education, domestic violence, rape as a weapon of war, teenage pregnancy, and forced marriages??? Honestly, I would like to see that too with her gained resources.

  5. You decided to do this video after watching the video posted by "The Pageant Nerd". Didn't you? LOL
You should have mentioned the Pageant Nerd at least as a fellow Pageant fan and vlogger. YES?

  6. this list doesn't make sense to me, you determined the popularity based on insta followings only. that is not a true reflection since this Queens are not from same countries. we have countries like phillipines that is big on peagants and the countries like South Africa that doesn't care about Peagants , comparing the two doesn't make sense at all.
