This has helped me so much. I am preparing to compete after years but this time with a disability(brain injury and epilepsy). You make me believe I can do it and actually talk to the judges about my brain tumor and surgeries!

Your first point reminded me of a story that Miss Universe 1994 Sushmita Sen spoke of… When she was competing for her national title, a very popular model, Aishwarya Rai, was also a contestant. She almost quit even before the contest thinking that there wasn't a way that she would win because Aishwarya was the lock to win.
Her mother convinced her to go for it as she will never have the chance to win because of her fear that another contestant was going to beat her would keep her from even trying.
Not only did she win the national pageant, she became her country's first Miss Universe.
