Hi Dani, I love this helpful video. I am a Georgia teen wanting to get into the pageant community and start competing, but I do not know where the right level is to start at to build up a small base and not be far away from state competitions such as Miss Georgia Teen USA. If you could give a bit of guidance I would really appreciate it <3
me competing for miss oklahoma teen with 6 weeks to prep, not to mention it’s my first pageant ever
Please react to Kim Of Queens
Great video ! Thank you
Needed this! I just competed in my first pageant in January and for SECOND RUP!!! All my judge's feedback was positive too!
Wow wish I saw your YouTube before today my daughter had her first pageant today for east coast USA but definitely will keep wat king you channel your amazing 😉🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Good idea to bring snacks to a rehearsal especially if it's more than 3 hours long – my first pageant did tell us this a few times and didn't always remind us for the optional rehearsals. At my first local pageant in 2019, I even had to take a Lyft early in the morning from my dorm and be there 8am. It was finals season and my junior year of college so I went a bit behind on the pageant paperwork and remember stuck til 1am in the computer lab and went back again 7am to finish printing.. and didn't have enough time for breakfast and of course they had no snacks at the rehearsal where we stood in line to submit paperwork and someone from the Teen division offered me a breakfast bar 🙂 Very nice of her
Gosh… My pageant is in 15 days and
I feel so overwhelmed and scared
I feel like Miss USA and up should get better dressing rooms tho. I was a bit shocked to see the backstage at USA. Mirrors laid on their side on a table in a hallway? I think you deserve better.
Thanks for this reminder Dani, I think my expectations have been high about my first one coming up in July. But I'm ready for the experience.
First pageant for me – age 19. Second one – age 50 (this year!). Just trying it for fun!
Dani, can you do zoom colab with a male pageant candidate? I am pretty sure there are different perpectives between people who participate in female pageants and male pageants.
This is soooo helpful!
3:10— TRUE. Catriona Gray specifically mentioned that just before the eve gown round in MU 2018, she was changing in a dark ramped corner backstage and held only a small (compact-sized, presumably) mirror to fix herself — and she was in such a rush and the background was such a riot.
If you are serious about the pageant, I agree a coach will really help. My girls (3 daughters participated) did small local pageants. Yes, they won, but it didn't really feel like a victory with so few competing. During each pageant we would all learned something new. Eventually we learned enough for one daughter to get the state title twice ( different age groups).
We did eventually get a coach after a really bad experience at a pageant group we hadn't worked with before. They literally destroyed my daughter's self image. They did so many things that were inappropriate to do and say to a contestant. She lost her confidence. The coach worked with her twice. She won her next title. She went back and was coached one time for the state title. She won. But honestly if the girls had gone to a coach for the first one they would have started from a much stronger place.
Pageants cost money, what they don't tell you is that if you win you will need several new wardrobe items, that you will be doing fundraisers and the financial output will continue. Even giving up your title you will want to do something for the contestants in your age range…a small gift that adds up when there are many contestants.
at your first pageant you were adorable
One pageant my dressing room was a tent with no light, no mirrors or any outlets to touch up your hair. We were in the dark. The tent was in the area behind the stage 💀
Your videos are so helpful! I’m competing at NAM Alabama for the teen division in July and I love getting tips from you 💕
Queen!!!
Me, going to my 5th pageant: 👀
Dani, you are 1000% correct to expect the unexpected. I was doing an original monologue for my talent. My coach made me focus on projecting my voice for a whole coaching session and it annoyed me so much because I hate being super loud. But when I got to the pageant- THE SOUND SYSTEM WASN"T WORKING!! So guess who had to project?! Expect the unexpected ladies!!
25th view! Love it Dani!
Hey Dani! Thank goodness you made this video because I'm going to be competing in my first pageant at Miss Maryland Teen USA!
Hey!! I'm early this time 😀😀
