She was set up from the start but ended up in a good place! She could have ran a tucked her tail but she didn't abd it paid off.
As late as the 1960s, the title of "Miss America" was THE most prestigious honor a young woman could achieve.
Vanessa Williams will always be Miss America in my eyes. It's usurp what they did. She has done more than she ever would have done with the title. Forever Vanessa Williams! More class and grace than anyone.

I love how her soon to be husband Ramon Hervey took charge and told those photographers to get down in front or she was not going to begin. He then asks her if she was OK. Vanessa was a trooper. She maintained her confidence and composure until it was over.
