Wow, Debbie Maffett is a super gorgeous lady and she is 1983 Miss America pageant winner!!
The 80s, all sparkle and hair teased within an inch of their lives!
She was one of the Miss Americas I went to see at Monmouth Mall in New Jersey back when Miss America would do publicity tours. She was signing head shots.
Didn't debbie compete in Miss Texas 3 times and get plastic surgery and state hop ?????
I remember thinking in 1982 she stood out above all the rest, the minute she was first introduced. She was the best and only choice that year.
From Cut and Shoit Tx
Lord of the Crown, this show was supposed to air on Saturday, September 11, 1982.
Miss Georgia (Bobbie Eakes) went on to be a soap star. She was on The Bold and the Beautiful, as well as All My Children
Who would have thought that when Miss Maffett returned the following year, she would be an eyewitness to history?
Debbie Maffett was actually from Texas but went out to California for school and to break into entertainment. That's why she represented the Golden State. She's in Missouri now working as a co-host for a Christian television talk show.
They looked old as hell!!!?
Things have changed over the years in the Miss America Organization. Back in 70s and 80s, talent was calculated as 50% for the overall score. It wasn't until the 90s that they changed the talent portion as 35% for an overall score and increased the interview portion as an important part of the competition. Since the crowning of Debbye Turner, young women had to create a platform before entering local pageant as well as planning to attend a college or university due to the fact it awards the women scholarship funding. Most thought after Lana Kaye Rae Rafko winning Miss America some time later should not won for she did a Tahitian dance number but she won due to her interview process in the competition was top notch with majority of the judges. This competition is based on some talent but also on intelligence as well.
Yolanda Teresa Fernandez, third runner up is a reporter in Tampa. She is of Cuban descent. She lives in Florida.
How is it that Desiree Daniels Miss Tennessee competed in Miss America and Miss USA
Aww Debbie look like a batbie doll
When I saw her the first night of preliminaries at the Miss California Pageant, I remarked if that girl has any talent she's Miss America. We ll of course she won Miss California. Double preliminary winner. Went on to Miss America. Double preliminary winner and Miss America. There was no one that year that could beat her.
Thanks 😊. Do you have also the introduction and opening number?

This pageant was Debbie Maffett's to lose. I doubt that it was even close; she ran away with it.
Do you have Miss America 2003 crowning or even some part of it, as well as other Miss America pageants?
Tennessee looks quite surprised she didn't win. Quite an awkward crowning and poor camera work.
Miss Tennessee should have won. She lost by only a point.
Debbie is beautiful as the song goes that is being sung. State representatives from Mississippi and Alabama continued their wins in Top 5 again the following year: 3rd runner-up, Miss Mississippi, Wanda Gayle Geddie and 2nd runner-up, Miss Alabama, Pam Battles.
