You have forgotten a true trailblazer.Jennifer Hosten won Miss World in 1970 representing Grenada.
There was a great deal of hostility after her win as the President of Grenada was a judge and the press were saying he influenced the result.
The press was also not happy as South Africa (still suffering apartheid and segregation) had 2 entrants.Miss Black South Africa and Miss White South Africa,Miss Black South Africa Pearl Jensen finished second and was not officially received when she returned home after the contest.
I was a young 12 year old and was 100% in agreement with the result,the contest was also disrupted by women liberation supporters which was quite a spectacle but nothing could dim Jennifer’s victory.She went on to be a High Commissioner for her country to Canada eventually moving there and having a very spectacular career.

I think there should a video on black women who broke pageant barriers in their national pageants in places like Latin America, North America, Europe, Middle East, Asia, Australia, and yes even in Africa (South Africa mostly post Apartheid). Black women are barely becoming accepted fully in pageantry. Zozi shattered the mold and the sky is the limit for black women in pageants.
When Jamaica won, I cried simply because the other girl was so happy for her.
