Former Penn State goalie and 2008 Miss Virginia Tara Wheeler was invited to sing the National Anthem at two special games at the 6th Annual USA Disabled Hockey Festival at the Gardens Ice House in Laurel, Md. Part of a four-day tournament, the games featured the USA Warriors, a team composed of soldiers wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan. The first was a sled hockey game against another team of vets, the San Antonio Rampage. The second was against Maryland Law and three Capitals alums, Joe Reekie, Sylvain Cote, and Gord Lane.
