  1. Hello Jamila! A lovely video! I always try to work on my posture ( bless my grandma for nudging me to keep my posture since high school) and your videos help a lot.
I do have a question, I always walk around with a small backpack because I take my iPad and other stuff everywhere with me and the problem with this is I feel like it puts strain on my back when I try to keep my posture, maybe I'm doing something wrong, do you have any tips to give or make a video about it?

  2. this is the 10th video of hers i'm watching, the way she speaks, her voice and expressions really make me want to improve my etiquette

  3. this video is really helpful, but I have to say, the thing that throws me off, (and the reason I am watching this), is how to walk graciously when wearing a purse. I prefer crossbody bags, and I always struggle to find where is the best spot for the purse to hit my body. Hip? Butt? front??ugh..

  4. I remember my grandmother teaching us deportment. She always said "Just imagine that if you fail to keep an erect posture someone will shoot you in the head." When you're 5 years old it definitely works

  5. 12:47 haha thanks for this, I tend to look down when I walk cause I feel embarrassed, I actually don't know how to explain it but this made me think "what if there was someone out there in my college that would have been the love of my life but I wasn't able to see just cause I was looking at the ground…?" That left me thinking haha it gave me a new perspective, from now and on I will keep my head up without paying attention to those thoughts that make me feel unconfident

  6. I really needed this cause I've been trying to fix my posture for a long time but every time I tried it I would get back pain but now I know why, I've been doing it wrong all the time lol. Now I tried this and my body feels very relaxed without losing the good posture, I'll start to do this every day

  7. Notes to Self from video:
-Head high: imagine you are pulled up with an invisible string like a marionette
    -Belly tucked in
-Shoulders: roll backwards and DOWN! (roll shoulders backwards and dramatic roll down)
4:50 Wall test for good posture
-Book on a head, when its gone you feel weightless and more elegant
    Practice practice practice
“Sweat more in practice, bleed less in battle”
-Hands: move equally from thighs. forward and backwards
-High heels… (but i dont want feet pain)
-Catwalk!! HELPS TO WALK STRAIGHT (I walk bent)
-Gaze: is open, dont look at feet, head up, be aware

  8. When I was around 12 we had Cotilion. It was a series of etiquette courses as well as dance lessons, that culminated in a formal dinner and dance at the end, so we could display what we learned.
