  2. When the 19th Amendment became law on August 26, 1920, 26 million adult female Americans were nominally eligible to vote. Only white women saw the fruits of labor that all women fought for. Full electoral equality was still decades away for most women of color who counted among that number. The federal suffrage amendment prohibited discrimination on the basis of sex, but it did not address other kinds of discrimination that many American women faced: women from marginalized communities were excluded on the basis of gender and race. Native American, Asian American, Latin and African American suffragists had to cintinue to fight for their own enfranchisement long after the 19th Amendment was ratified, some for decades.

  5. You might like the story of the Liverbirds. They were sort of an all female equivalent to The early Beatles. The Liverbirds were going to come to America, but to American producers wanted them to play topless and play in more risque type of places, so those ladies never came, and it really stifled their career. It wasn't long after that they broke up.
