I don't normally give my insights on other people's lives because that's their business but since you are very open about what's going on with this guy that has preoccupied your mind for the past days let me suggest that you do some OBJECTIVE ASSESSMENT about him. Try to get info on the following:
1. Demographics : his age, address, where has he lived in his life, what was his life years ago when he was young, etc.
2. Academic background
3. Family background
4.Financial and work background
5.Past relationship
When you have gathered info on these factors try to solve the puzzle. Try to ask questions like "if he has this or he is this or that then why is he pursuing me?"
"What are the pros and cons from his side if he pursues me?" and at the same time "what are the consequences in my life if I pursue him?"
DO NOT BE EMOTIONAL when you do this assessment, BE OBJECTIVE so you will have a better perspective and a clarity of the situation.
Bottomline : Assess WHAT MAKES SENSE and WHAT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE
