In a spectacular production, El Salvador hosted the 72nd Miss Universe on 18 November 2023, which in itself was one of the most tightly contested editions in recent years.

Right up until the crowning moment it wasn’t clear who would take the crown, but ultimately Nicaragua became the 35th different nation to hold the Miss Universe title. Sheynnis Palacios performed brilliantly, not only on finals night, but throughout the two-week competition.

Have a look at my post-pageant thoughts, captured in the hours following this historic victory.

  1. Aside from being the ONLY pageant nerd valid to be called so, you are a serene, correct and really agreable "commentator" on the topic.
I suscribed at munute three, though I desagree in some points, ja ja ja ja ja

PD: English is not my mother language but yours is my model to follow.
    ¡Hugs!

  2. ms.Nicaragua is really amazing and deserved the crown. because 🇵🇭 didnt had the chance regardless of how stronger she was. i thought the criteria are; advocacy, prelim, swimsuit, natcos, evening gown the way they executed all of that.. will be choosen to be on the top5. but sadly the judges…🤔 (its still puzzled me).
but this yearMU doesnt have the best impact when it comes to Q&A.. top5/top3 answered it on a level and just fine answer .. no one gave me goosebump.. coz i am waiting for the one who will give me a 😮.. but apparently theres no one.just sayin'
but still congratulations 🎉🎉 just love🖤

  3. Hi TPN! Can you please make a video about Winning gowns nerdy facts such as winning colors, styles etc. Nerdy facts on winning gowns with gloves , capes etc. Congratulations and keep up the great work. Respectfully yours 🤗💪😍

  4. PHILIPPINES creeping into TOP 5 will change the landscape totally that's why they made sure she was blocked. Imagine losing the Top 5 qualifier on the Evening Gown segment? WTF?

I guess winning 4 awards in the competition doesn't mean you're any better than the other contestants hahahahaha

    Scammed.

  5. When i saw Miss Thailand i tought she was going to be the one… However, she had some kind of attitude of superiority. She tough she was the one, and it was not the case. She was very prepotent and her answer did not weight 100%. She over indulged herself. Also she "forgot" to congratulate the beautiful, smart, and clever new Miss Universe… Not a great attitude for a great favorite…

  6. Often times the Philippines can take “defeat” graciously. But in this edition of Miss Universe…her exclusion to advance was an “injustice” while the whole world witnessed how solid her performances in swimsuit🩱and evening gown 👗 segment was!!

  7. Hey PN – always good to see your stats and recaps. I thought it would be fun, what with Miss Nicaragua having just won (a country not known for placing that often), to do a summary of the delegates who’ve won a) without ever before placing b) after placing once c) on their first shot d) and so on.

Finland, France (for obvious reasons, as the pageant was young), Puerto Rico, Lebanon and Botswana come to mind. But I’ll leave it up to you – as the beautiful pageant nerd that you are – to come up with all the stats. Cheers.

  8. The Philippines truly stands out in the evening gown segment. Despite not advancing to the top 5, they refrained from doing so because they recognized the Philippines' strength in the Q&A. Once she reached the top 5, winning the crown for the Philippines became an unlikely possibility.
