“Secrets of Miss America” delves into the long-kept secrets of America’s oldest beauty pageant, exposing the shocking scandals at its core. A cultural event once viewed by 80 million people a year, the pageant now struggles to stay relevant to a new generation of Americans whose views on beauty and sexual politics have changed drastically over the past few decades.   1. Kirstin Haglund – you have to be one of the most ungrateful Miss Americas in history. You entered because you didn't want to write another college essay – you played the "pageant game" and WON! Now you disparage the future of the very program that YOU benefitted from. I'm glad you're beautiful on the outside – too bad the judges missed the "authentic" Kirstin. As a Miss America volunteer for over 3 decades, I'm embarrassed you ever held the title.

  2. One of the promos states that the organization is racist, particularly against blacks. Of the last 39 Miss Americas, 8 have been black. So since Vanessa Williams broke that race barrier, 21% of them are black, despite blacks making up only 13.6% of the U.S. population. This means blacks are OVER-represented in Miss America by 50%. Sorry to skew the discussion with actual facts. Numbers don't lie.
