Dana: I wonder if you know how many LGBTQ children that have died in similar situation as Nex in Oklahoma and other Red states? My heart breaks that our fellow Americans are still teaching their kids/their communities to hate instead of love thy neighbor. They use the bible as license to be judgmental, when Jesus taught the complete opposite, that we be compassionate! Keep doing what you are doing, and you ARE enough. You both are!

I am a grandmother crying for Nex with you. I'm not trying to be mean but those girls are murderers and need to be imprisoned. We have to be proactive. Nex looks like a beautiful soul.
Wait so this facially absurd policy, law in too many states, is about outing trans & nonbinary kids in the place they are most vulnerable to physical attack behind closed doors? Diabolical. And so inspire bigotted violence in teens otherwise not inclined to attack POC, Jews, cis gays, any of the people that fascists hope to condition youth to be ready to beat, kill, or tolerate others doing so. Fk!
A very active and thorough cover-up- is more like it. It sounds like the entire system should be investigated by an outside law enforcement agency.
I'm so sorry for you're anguish about getting this story heard and justice done. There's a daily YouTube channel by Tennessee Brando with 76K subscribers. He also covered this story in depth this week and included mention of this horrible woman who was put in charge of the libraries at the school. His anger was out in the open and he too was saying that everyone in this country should know every detail about Nex's story. He titled his youTube post with their name. You are not the only ones spreading this news. I hope that can bring you some relief from your grief and terror.

As someone who was bullied for being different in grade school and junior high school – including an episode of being knocked down and repeatedly kicked, I know for a fact that school kids can be extremely violent. I was raised to be anti-social so I was picked on for being an introvert.
Violent school kids can grow up to continue to be violent so that I have a tendency to avoid places they may congregate – seedy bars, churches, social events, concerts, etc.
Don't like the society you live in? Tough. The in crowd will legislate in their favor so they can carry on punishing the out crowd with impunity. Even though the Constitution was written to protect the minority from the majority, many court rulings have violated this.
Bigots need to be told where they can get off. We have a need for corrective therapy for people who were raised to be violent at the whiff of "other" – otherwise known as fundamentalists.

The story of Nex is so horrifying I just can't articulate how heartbroken, angry and frustrated I am over this poor babies murder at the hands of his classmates and school officials.

Remember Sweet Ladies of the Beans, little ripples can turn into a tsunami. Sometimes we don't have to fix the whole thing we can be where we are and start little ripples that may turn into the huge tidal waves. You two are part of the group starting things off with smaller ripples. You're making a difference even though it sometimes feels as if you're shouting into the void. Keep shouting because we're right there with you shouting as well. We love you both.
I sent the Principal of Owasso High School an email. I was not mean and hateful. I asked a few questions. I don't care if I ever hear back. I only hope that someone reads it and it might make a small ripple of change begin. 💖

My heart is broken hearing the details surrounding Nex… They were just a kid, who deserved to life a full life. Thank you to both of you, for covering this, as hard as I can imagine it must have been.
How do we fix this? One person at a time…baby steps when bigger steps aren’t possible. It was hard listening to this report not only because of the content, but because of the clear impact it had on someone who I am unaccustomed to hearing grief from. Keep fighting the good fight Dana. There are a few dear trans souls in my life. The bravery they have to be who they are is amazing. Hearing about Nex's bullying and death just broke my heart. It is obvious that the attack resulted their death.
Also, the hospital sending home a person with head trauma is responsible.
I can assure you with absolute certainty that the Bible says absolutely nothing about frozen embryos. Not a word.
John mentions, correctly, that the Alabama Supreme Court’s Bible quotation is torn badly out of context. That reminds me of a very important point: Reading a single verse from the Bible can mislead you about the intended meaning. It’s very important to read the whole chapter containing the verse, or, preferably, that whole book of the Bible. That doesn’t mean you will or should agree with everything in the Bible, but you’ll have a much better knowledge of what you’re agreeing or disagreeing with.
