You’d never expect it from an Olympic swimmer, but Cullen nearly drowned at a water park when he was 5 years old. With some encouragement from his mother, he faced his fears and learned how to swim at his local community pool. Almost 20 years later, Culle achieved the pinnacle of success in his sport by capturing a gold medal in the freestyle relay at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. As a 2012 Olympic hopeful, all eyes are on Cullen again this year. You won’t want to miss cheering for him on his journey to the London 2012 Olympic Games.

It’s no wonder the USA Swimming Foundation’s Make a Splash Initiative is so clsoe to Cullen’s heart: it educates communities on water safety and the importance of learning how to swim. Knowing all too well that drowning is the number-two cause of childhood accidental death, Cullen is dedicated to his work with Make a Splash. Your support for Cullen will help fund free swim lessons for children nationwide, inspire kids to follow in Cullen’s footsteps and give them a life-saving skill they might not otherwise have a chance to learn.
