Review: The e.l.f. SKIN Gentle Peeling Exfoliant left my skin feeling softer and smoother than any exfoliant I’ve ever used before. Read and follow the directions. Your skin needs to be dry. I used it before getting in the shower. You also need to massage for a few moments and be patient. If you are, you’ll feel the dead skin kind of balling up on your face. After several minutes I just rinse with warm water and then cleanse my face as usual. My skin felt baby soft. That soft, smooth feeling lasts for a couple of days. I’ve only used it twice, so I haven’t noticed a huge change in appearance, but it has definitely helped to improved my skin’s texture. It’s also such a great value, don’t hesitate giving it a try. You’ll be happy with the results.

Title: Warning : contains polypropylene glycol
Review: Had to wash off after less than 5 seconds. It turns out my skin is sensitive to polypropylene glycol, which is the second ingredient so there’s a lot of it in this product. My face is now very pink, incredibly dry and the moisturizer I put on right away feels sticky. I didn’t read the instructions well enough to be using it anyway. The back of the bottle says it can be used by people with dry skin. I don’t recommend it for people with dry, sensitive skin. Not at all. Within two seconds of putting it on my dry skin it started to burn. Not tingle. Burn. Thankfully it rinsed away very well, very quickly. I messed up with the product big time anyway. For starters it’s called a *peeling* exfoliant. I bought it thinking that I would be letting it dry and then peeling it off. No, it’s not that at all. You put it on, rub your fingers in circular motions for a little bit and then rinse it off. There’s no letting it dry and peeling it off. Important distinction. So that was a big disappointment. Now, though I only had it on a few seconds, my skin is freaking out. Polypropylene glycol, the second ingredient, is “generally considered safe” according to the CDC. It’s used in some makeup and medications. It is also used to get the ice off airplane wings. And as a paint solvent. I can’t believe I didn’t read the instructions or the ingredients list! I’m just not interested in using skincare with polypropylene glycol anymore. My skin is so dry and freaking out that I put a thick eye cream all over my face and the thick had soaked in completely within a couple of minutes. It’s Kiehl’s avocado eye cream, which usually takes a good 20 minutes to soak in. Even though they cost more, I want to switch to all natural ingredients from now on. Those types of products are generally more expensive, but it’s been over an hour and my face still feels like it’s going to crack from extreme dryness. I just don’t like this product.
