Title: Lovely Parfums but Lacks Staying Power
Review: The first time I tried EL’s Beautiful Magnolia it reminded me of a fragrance my Japanese mother purchased for me in Tokyo years ago. I couldn’t remember which of the Magnolias it was, so this travel kit was perfect for my needs. Turns out it’s the original Magnolia (not Intense or L’eau) which is a lovely light and crisp scent – the magnolia and rose are definitely present in this one. The L’eau actually reminds me of Prada’s d’Iris but turns out I actually enjoy the Intense one the most. It’s a spicy scent and I love the combination of patchouli, vanilla and musk, just three of several notes. It sounds like it’d be overpowering & for the first 5 secs and it can be. However it “softens” up nicely but the other reason it does this is because the scent lacks staying power. I even double checked to make sure these were parfums and not toilettes. (They are). In defense of these fragrances, I do have dry skin. Oftentimes, and if available, I’ll purchase the brand’s body oil or lotion to increase longevity. Today I first applied a layer of vitamin E oil and this did seem to help some.

Title: Magnolia set does amazing
Review: This 3-fragrance set from Estée Lauder is so nice and elegant. Each fragrance is a take or iteration of the magnolia line which has complex notes throughout. A rosy opening into a magnolia/cedar wood dry down that is captivating. The longevity is about 6 hours on skin and the quality is fantastic. They all project very well and the differences I would say are in application and when you’d wear them. The regular is an all occasion, the l’eau is all occasion + work place or large gatherings, and the intense is for more intimate settings. Definitely give these a try if you can.
