Very beautiful girl
guys im really inspired……. autisim really is col!
We're standing with you! The rest of the autistic community.
The key is early detection, intervention and treatment for the mild form of it and once you meet them as an adult you would never know they had it in the first place.
Song name 2:29? Btw Alexis is my inspiration!!! I’m also an aspie and I hope to meet her one day❤️!
She's very pretty. I'm glad she won Miss Montana in 2012 and Miss America in 2013. Everyone deserves happiness, this includes people on the autistic spectrum.
I wish she can be my girlfriend.
This is awesome early intervention can help good job
I'm sorry, but this is a bit silly. The fact that she's an "inspiration" is almost like saying people with Autism CAN'T be good-looking. I mean, it's not unheard of for someone with Autism to be attractive. Look at Heather Kuzmich. We only lack social skills-not beauty.
I was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (Asperger's Syndrome) when I was 12 years old!
That's the real inspiration to me because I was born with autism hopefully someday I'll meet her in person someday.
AWESOME I have achieved alot of goals too with Asperagers diagnosed 9 yrs ago 😀
she's so pretty, and inspiring!
hope she wins 🙂
She was my fave contestant. I was also diagnosed with autism
I'm from Montana!
She came to my school
WOW!! I am now this girls biggest fan! As a single mother of a daughter with the exact same disorder PDD…this is truly inspirational!!! Thank you!!
you likely don't know all that she's gone through. you probably shouldn't say stuff like that.
Omg miss Montana came to my school! I swear
this kind of stuff makes me think autism isnt real it's just a difference in how people behave…
Proud to have this beautiful young lady represent our state. Go Miss Montana!
she should take NAC (n-acetyl cysteine) – maybe she is sensitive to mercury in the environment/vaccines
Parenting has some effect yes but there is more going on than just good parents. it also depends on the individual, severity of autism, comorbidties, where they grow-up, the available resources for the family, schools that can accommodate for the child, acceptance from their peers, etc… when you look at the whole population of autistim only a very small portion are savants (and most savants are autistic), most eventually can function in society given time, others still struggle.
A gem of a person.
Fair enough, but I do believe if it wasn't for autism our brains wouldn't have developed in certain ways. It's abnormalities/ mutations that cause evolution.
You are aware that there are severe cases of autism that render the individual unable to ever speak or toilet train, right? I'm with you- autism is such a gift to so many people that have it- and it can create some of the most amazing minds history has seen. But only 10% of autistics are savants while 50% will never say a word in their life. I am not totally against your opinion, but I do think its a little sugar coated and unfair to parents facing a severe diagnosis who are doing their best.
Alexis you are the true face of beauty. You represented our beautiful state of Montana very well. For everyone our there who thinks they know her story just by watching this video you don't. Nobody understands a Montanan better than a Mo
Alexis got robbed last night. Surely I thought she would have made it into the top 5-6 with Miss South Carolina, but unfortunately it never happened. Fortuanately for her though, she would've hated the responsibilites that go along with being crowned Miss America.
I should know. I'm on the Autism spectrum as well, and as you might imagine things can get very stressful and overwhelming.
Not if raised properly. Autism seems to supercharge certain parts of the brain that wouldn't normally be that way, I really do believe this is caused by evolution. Sure it's unbalanced but this is why you see autistic people through history do or invent amazing things, because they don't think like a normal human. It's not a walk in the park, but if utilized correctly instead of being coddled they can do extraordinary things. Watch this: /watch?v=uAyhz2m-UuQ
She does my beloved Montana proud.
A bit extreme, but the girl is really worth the praise. She's well prepared, socially independent now, and definitely will be successful in the future as long as her support structure remains in place.
You are wrong, even though you seem to mean well. Anything that creates an obstacle to a full social experience HAS to be a challenge. Don't call it a gift, it's a challenge. Just because she's not a babbling, non-speaking autistic girl, doesn't mean she has it easy… did you hear she had to go through 9 years of speech therapy? Autism is NOT A WALK IN THE PARK.
aww I wish she would have won!!
This is a bit misleading. To say she had "autism" seems highly unlikely seeing the way she conducts herself in a social situation. Was she PPD/nos? Maybe. But she more likely had speech/learning delays growing up that she has worked hard to conquer. Much like a child who suffers from severe stuttering, only to lose the impediment later on in life. It is true that there is a spectrum that is wide, However she is "way beyond"the high end. The term autism is used 2 freely on this particular story.
My god, she is so beautiful
OK,but next time use some punctuation with your remarks..why don't people use punctuation anymore?I can take a joke just like anybody, but if I don't know it's supposed to be a joke I'm not going to let people be ignorant and hateful..I don't like those stupid emoticons, but at least they provide some sort of punctuation..
You go girl! She is a true inspiration to me and I'm going to tell my daughter who is on the spectrum a
I'm sick of people making autism out to be such a debilitating disorder when in most cases it's a gift. Some of the most talented people in history had autism, it just all depends who your parents are and how they raised you(which goes for everyone). Some parents find out their kids have autism and treat them like they're retarded or something so they don't excel like they should be, which is unfortunate. Autism, to me, is the human race making the next step into evolution.
I would die for her, just to keep her smiling <3
Bravo!
She is an inspiration! You too Sufer34! She is from Cut Bank, Montana, a small town of 2,000 people. It is really hard when everybody knows you, and has their mind made up about you. Unconditional love only comes from God; even a mother's love can be selfish and/or cruel. I hope you have found the love and peace of God in Jesus Christ! Bless You!
Yeah, I used the wrong terminology.
Success really is the best revenge.
She worth more than 100 fat ugly "normal" bitches!!
