The 2015 Miss America Pageant took place on Sunday night and while Miss New York, Kira Kazantsev, walked away with this year’s crown, all of the 53 lovely ladies who participated in the event spent years preparing for the big day! So what does it take to be Miss America?
Chairman Sam Haskell discussed what advice he has for possible pageant queen prospects.
“To be real! We don’t condone pageant coaches. We don’t condone trying to make them into something else or something they think they should be, let them be themselves,’ he said.
Former Miss Mississippi Mary Donnelly Haskell also chimed in to discuss her thoughts on what makes a girl stand out above the rest.
“I think authenticity and naturalness because that is Miss America. She is in some ways the girl next door,” she added.
