In regards to the former Miss Philippines answering that she never ever made a mistake. It was taken as an arrogant thing. She was completely misunderstood. She was simply stating that with all the family support she had, she had never made any mistake that was major. If you were a Filipino, you would fully understand what she meant to say. I guess it has to do with culture and Americans don't understand that.
