That being said, I still remember their absolute shock reactions when the Philippines' Beatrice Luigi Gomez reached the top five in the 70th Miss Universe.
Being Thai myself I have mixed feelings about them buying the pageant. On the one hand what a heck of a deal to save MUO from its continual decline in quality since WME/IMG bought it (MUO was in financial problems no denying that.) On the other hopefully it doesn't turn into MGI level of over the top and just because the owner is transgender MUO doesn't just turn into a trans based pageant.
Everyone who thinks just because Thailand now owns the pageant that Thailand will now win every time you're missing the business aspect of it all. They still have to be able to keep other countries interested for those all important licensing fees because at the end of the day money trumps all sense of national cohesion.
Thailand were unable to win the Miss Universe crown for so many years. Now they owned the organization,๐and can't expect an unbiased judgement in comin years๐. And for sure Thailand would end up in higher places and probabaly would win the title as well๐ even though the contestants' performances are not that much good๐ Disappointing๐

It's OK that a Thai Organization has bought Miss Universe, but please don't make it MGI Part 2. Miss Universe is a global paegent, not some local national paegent. The way rules are being changed to reflect everything about Thailand is wrong. Won't be surprised if Thailand wins or ends up in Top 3
