HIGHLIGHTS FROM TODAY’S SHOW:

Chief Secretary Farley Augustine has described the resignation of former second-in-command, Watson Duke as a “minor hurdle” hours after duke announced his shocking resignation as deputy chief secretary on Thursday 15th September 2022.

• Augustine said he is not concerned about making enemies with Duke since his focus was the development and governance of the Sister Isle, Tobago.

• The chief secretary wished Duke well in his future endeavors and thanked him for his service.

On Thursday 15th September

Duke, Political Leader of the PDP, resigned as Deputy Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly hours after he was invited by Augustine to the Executive Council meeting which was expected to be held last night.

• Duke instead called a press briefing and announced his resignation adding that he has no intention of fighting Augustine but he will be keeping an eye on how “Farley and Friends” manage the affairs of Tobago House of Assembly.

• Duke’s announcement, which shocked many, came after Farley stated that Duke will be invited to the executive meeting and asked to address the concerns of the executive. Farley also added that whether Duke attends the meeting or not, a decision will be taken on whether he will retain any of the portfolios assigned to him.

• Farley also issued a challenge to duke, inviting him to file a motion of “no confidence” in him if he was dissatisfied with Rarley’s leadership at the THA and if such motion failed, duke would have been removed as Deputy Political Leader.

A man identified as 23-year-old Jerimiah Forde aka “Ding” of Maingot Road Tunapuna was shot and killed a short distance from his home on Friday 16th September, 2022.

• Forde, police said, was one of the main persons involved in cable theft within the Tunapuna district. He had several firearm related offences pending before the courts, police added.

• However, his mother, who spoke with our camera crew, said her son was not a murderer.

The TTPS says its computer system which deals with certificate of characters is down and apologises for such inconvenience.

• This has also affected the police’s fingerprint database, which is used to search for criminal records of accused persons before the courts.

• Such has not been functioning for several months resulting in magistrates remanding accused persons without bail in some instances while others were granted bail based on preliminary checks conducted.

Head of the Prisons Officers Association, Ceron Richards, and the head of the Fire Service Association, Leo Ramkissoon, led a protest outside the offices of the Chief Personnel Officer to highlight their disgust regarding negotiations, on Friday 16th September, 2022.

• Richards said that they are not getting their opportunity around the table to properly negotiate the 4% wage increase offered by the CPO Dr. Darryl Dindial.

Tobago workmen removed fittings from a house at Store Bay Local Road, Tobago on Thursday 15th September, 2022 as relatives vacated the premises pursuant to an order of the court, to facilitate the $1.2 billion expansion of the A.N.R Robinson International Airport in Tobago.

On Thursday 11th August, 2022:
• Two home owners were evicted by the Commissioner of State Lands, assisted by police in order to pave the way for the new airport in Tobago.
