You may look into the 2001 home burglary of the Ramseys' home in Atlanta. John left to go to Home Depot to buy some door hinges. He's gone for about 20 minutes. When he arrives back at his house, he confronts a man in his house wearing socks over his hands. He fights with the attacker for several minutes until John ends up getting tied up and locked in the bathroom while the burglar escapes. The burglar made off with Patsy's K-Mart jewely, a shotgun, his wallet and some other miscellaneous items. If I recall, this happened a few days after they were told they would both have to testify in the Wolf civil suit. The burglar also apparently broke in through the basement.
There are different news articles of the break-in, and some of his descriptions of what took place are hilarious. It just adds another layer to the whole saga.
