Maybe she was very nervous and anxious. I have a very high iq (140) and was always the smartest in class at school without studying but when I get nervous I fumble over my words and when it’s really bad I can barely get my sentences out properly, and because of this, along with the fact I colour my hair a shade of platinum blonde and am seen as being above average in looks (sorry if that sounds arrogant it’s just what I have been told) people often assume I am stupid and I have constantly been ignored for promotions at work despite being a very high performer and being there over 4.5 years. Nerves and anxiety can do a lot of bad things to you and make you seem stupid when you are not.
I'd pick this over the angry feminist nonsense we see in 2021. At least she was genuine, soft, and sweet. Being educated often doesn't make you any better of a person, rather it probably makes you more cut throat and competitive.
