  1. My all-time favorite Miss America…not because of her incredible beauty, but her work as a RN with the terminally ill during the height of the AIDS epidemic…Kay Lani Rae Rafko of Michigan!

  2. @ adpny:  ALmost correct about Kaye Lani's dress.  Yes, it was a wedding dress, but it wasn't purchased by her at a wedding gown store, rather a borrowed wedding dress.

  3. What a horrible group of semifinalists. I remember watching just to know who would win, but Miss America has always been of lesser category as compared to the USA system (at least back then, now both suck)

  4. This was one of my favorite MAs that I attended. Stacy James Miss Nevada killed in the talent prelims and was getting over Bell's Palsy, so had a noticeable droop on the left side of her face.
The last post was right. Jennifer Sauder Miss FL looked similar to Leanza but she had 100 times the voice of Leanza.
I wish the person who posted the vid would upload NV and FL's talent. They were right up there with the best.

  5. I have not seen this in years. A lot of those prepared statements are funny in retrospect, but I guess the pageant wanted to show they had ambition too. I remember Miss Michigan getting her gown at a wedding shop. I remembered comparing Leanza Cornett to this Miss Florida too.

  6. Clearly Kaye Lani Rae Rafko was the winner by this point based on her prepared speech. But the others!!!!! Wow what cheese… These interviews are so cheesy I think I need a lactaid…
