A Plymouth teenager is preparing for a national competition this summer, and she’ll do it all on national television wearing six-inch heels.
Maggie McGill won the title of Miss Minnesota Teen USA this fall and will compete in the Miss Teen USA pageant this summer. Maggie is a senior at Benilde-St. Margarets and a competitive figure skater with the Lake Minnetonka Figure Skating Club.
This week, Maggie is practicing all aspects of the competition with other regional state title holders. She will compete in swimsuit, evening gown, and interview, but Maggie says she’s not intimidated that all eyes will be on her.
“Everything is so much fun,” said McGill. “I love everything about it.”
The state pageant director says the year ahead will be a busy one and full of preparation for the national competition and many public appearances.
“It’s helping her present herself, not necessarily to speak but to project her personality and to have that ability to do that in front of people. All the skills she’s honing right now will help her through life,” said Denise Wallace, state director of Miss Minnesota USA and Miss Minnesota Teen USA.
Miss Teen USA will be broadcast live on NBC on an undecided date.
Before then, expect Maggie to be practicing walking in her six-inch heels in her garage at her Plymouth home.
