I am so not into parading women, ESP young girls, across stages to compete with each other for prettiest face and body. Whether other stuff is thrown in or not, it's about looks and it sets an unhealthy standard, breeds low self esteem, and is exploitative. I know pageant girls disagree, but it's my opinion and how I've felt about BEAUTY pageants forever. (Why weren't there ever been beauty pageants in the 50s, and on, for men and boys??? There isn't even a male word for 'beauty', or a male term for 'beauty regimen/secrets', etc. Very sexist and shallow.)
