She gave up crown and resigned reign 6 months later when she resisted pageant organizer manipulations, refusing a trip to Japan. Yet never been officially dethroned, she's the first and only Spaniard so titled. She died of Parkinson's Disease in 2011 and rests in God's peace by Christ's grace.

I think Gloria won because She was so smart, Martha Vasconcellos miss universe 1968 did not answered the final question but she was so gorgeous, miss Curacao desrved to win in 1968 because she gave so smart answers but she was black and Martha was not. Very easy as miss universe so the next year miss universe must be judge not just by beauty but for other qualities also

for connieclarin…. hindi porket maitim o negra. ay pangit na. for your information, maraming magagandang maitim. some of them ay nagiging supermodels pa nga. pero pag dto sa pilipinas, madaming nadidiscriminate na mga maiitim, which is very sad. Go to US or europe, they love black ladies.
