The Miss Universe pageant is one of the most prestigious beauty contests in the world, attracting contestants from countries all over the globe to compete for the coveted title of Miss Universe. From 2015 to 2023, the pageant saw a plethora of stunning contestants showcasing their grace, intelligence, and beauty on the international stage.

In 2015, the Miss Universe crown was awarded to Pia Wurtzbach of the Philippines. Her win was particularly notable because it ended the Philippines’ 42-year drought in the competition, with the last Filipino winner being Margie Moran in 1973. Pia’s reign was marked by her advocacy for HIV/AIDS awareness and education, as well as her efforts to promote tourism in the Philippines.

The following year, in 2016, the crown went to Iris Mittenaere from France. She became the second French woman to win the title, following in the footsteps of Christiane Martel in 1953. Iris used her platform to promote oral hygiene and dental health, a cause that is close to her heart as a dental surgery student.

In 2017, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters of South Africa was crowned Miss Universe. Demi-Leigh’s win was significant as she became the second South African to win the title, following Margaret Gardiner in 1978. She used her platform to raise awareness for women’s self-defense training, a cause she is passionate about due to her own experience of being carjacked and held at gunpoint.

The following years saw a variety of winners from different countries, each bringing their own unique advocacy and style to the Miss Universe stage. In 2018, Catriona Gray of the Philippines took home the crown with her platform in education for impoverished children. In 2019, Zozibini Tunzi of South Africa was crowned Miss Universe, advocating for gender equality and self-acceptance.

In 2022, Harnaaz Sandhu of India won the title of Miss Universe, becoming the third woman from India to win the crown. She used her platform to promote mental health awareness and suicide prevention, a cause close to her heart as she has struggled with mental health issues in the past.

In 2023, a new Miss Universe will be crowned, and the competition continues to showcase the beauty, talent, and intelligence of women from around the world. The winners of the Miss Universe pageant continue to inspire and empower women to make a difference in their communities and beyond, continuing the legacy of this prestigious beauty contest.
