Turns out GuyRex had the franchise for California that year too and Miss California and Courtney actually trained together under GuyRex and they took the top two spots in the pageant. Such a shame they became too successful as they didn’t hold onto the franchises for long after 1989.

I think the Miss Universe organization needs to hire a new stylist for the Miss Universe pageants. Miss USA 1987, looks youthful and beautiful here. At Miss Universe she looked aged and not so pretty. USA's biggest downfall at Miss Universe are their choices in evening gowns.
I liked Courtney Gibbs and think she got robbed at Miss Universe. California was smart but plain Jane looking. Georgia attractive but my God she went overboard with the makeup. Florida and Mississippi cute but not Universe material.

Does anyone notice that as Miss Texas is announced as the new Miss USA, there are 3 other former Miss USA on stage handing her the flowers , and her sash, and all of them from the great state of Texas. 4 Miss USA from Texas in one place.
A Note for IMG – the previous crowns for Miss USA and Miss Universe are the best. Go back to the original iconic symbols of beauty.

Courtney Gibbs sort of looks like Kristian Alfonso, aka they're beautiful. Michelle Royer was beautiful and you can tell had a beautiful personality too.

4th Runner-up: Mississippi was sent to Miss International 1988 she placed 1st Runner-up. 2nd Runner-up: Georgia was sent to Miss Asia Pacific 1988 and she was a semi-finalist, 1st Runner-up: California was sent to Miss World 1988 she placed in the Top 10.
I thought. Miss Georgia was a drag queen at first and also this is the 2nd consecutive time that the 1st runner up we're Hispanic, 1987' runner up was Dominican American and 1988 was Mexican American

I love how Michelle said to the rest of the contests that they're all beautiful. No outgoing title holder before or after her has done it since. She seems so down to earth and someone you really would want to meet.
