  1. Shandi would be an amazing color commentator. We need that brutal honestly like they used to do back in the day. Saying things like, “ohhhh, she didn’t answer that question,” or “She seemed nervous. I would be surprised if she makes Top 5.” Not everything has to be positive. They do that in ice skating. Make pageant exciting again !!!

  2. One thing I find curious is that you comment on leaving your hair as God intended, curly or straight, yet the Miss USA organization has deemed it ok and supports transgender contestants. Love your comments and spot-on analogies of the pageant.

  3. Great recap Shandi, as always,
My wish would be to do a reaction/recap to Miss France pageant. Very different to Miss USA/Universe system but it's a top notch show&production.

  4. I wish they would've introduced former Miss USAs who were on stage. And those dang Party City tiaras must GO! Winners deserve a worthy crown that sparkles and shines. I Miss the vintage crowns so much.

  5. Great Review Shandi… I swear, I wanna grab the mic from the male host and do it myself 😊😊😊😂💪🏽🥰👼🙏🏽 U getting prettier and prettier by the way 🥰🥰🥰💪🏽👼❤️🙏🏽

  6. Great recap/review. You look stunning. Just an observation…I am very pleased with the winner, she deserves it, and she will be fantastic at Miss Universe. However, I am disappointed in the hairdo she had. It wasn't exactly Asya's fault the pictures of the coronation will look silly. There wasn't much that could have been done. And I'm disappointed, because Elle said she prepped for Miss Universe, not Miss USA, so she knew she had a high chance of being crowned the winner and didn't learn from Miss Kentucky USA's crowning moment. It was a bit better then, but it still looks awkward. I hope she is advised to have a more appropriate hairdo for the big Miss Universe crown in case she wins… Which I hope she does. Second, you are not a former Miss USA 2004. You are the only one that will ever be Miss USA 2004. In my book, you are still Miss USA, it's just that your reign took place a while back, that's all. Lol 😘

  7. Shandi … a few "pros" from me to you …

    A. I would include you with Crystale & Ali as one of the most beautiful Miss USAs EVER!! For winning the title nearly 20 years ago (2004 & you gave your title up in my hometown of Baltimore plus nothing against Jennifer but you should have won Miss Universe) and having children, you look A-MA-ZING!!!

    B. I think you should either host and/or be a correspondent to the pageants. Girl, you know your stuff!!

    C. With "Chain Reaction" getting a reboot on GSN, could it be possible that we may see you again co-hosting either "Lingo" (which you were awesome at) or getting a game show of your own??

  8. Hated the Asian host. And I'm Asian😖 It was painful to watch and hard to understand. Too much Botox. Wanted them to say their home states… Hated the fluff questions during the round table and hated that Kentucky cut off Texas during the round table. Hated them in a circle having to dance to JaRule singing. Liked that top 16 did both swimsuit and evening before narrowing to 8. Hated how they "chose" judges for final questions and hated that there wasn't a final question that was the same so you could actually judge them on their answers to a standard question. Narrow it to top 5 and give them the same question. Didn't like the call out.. Too rushed and no drama. If they had a final 5, they could call or from forth runner up, etc. I want two girls at the end!! Thought Miss Texas looked the most MU but hope Kentucky does well. Wish Miss USA was sooner so they have more time to prep for Miss Universe. Anyone else?

  9. Yeah, opening number was hot with the form-fitting identical black attire and high heels, the sensual movement, and the chair dancing (reminiscing about lap dancing; pandemic put a halt to that)! Adding to that, Miss USA 2020 leading the provocative dancing center stage with the thigh-length leg warmers, flirty glances at the camera, and the seductive wind-blown hair intros by the contestants. All that was missing was a pole! lol

  10. Having a rap artist serenade the contests? No! Does not work! Much rather see a smooth singer/dancer like Gavin DeGraw or Ne-Yo, who were both excellent!!

  11. I thought North Dakota has once a generation beauty. In fact, I compared her, by generations, to Natalie Wood and Halle Berry, in their prime. Any idea of her ethnicity?

  12. North Dakota was Audra Mari 2.0 and they are both from North Dakota but fun fact…. this years North Dakota was 1st runner up for both Miss USA and Miss Teen USA just like Audra Mari was. That's kinda crazy!

  13. Hey! I couldn't click fast enough! Great to hear your recap and miss your face! You were my AHHHHHH Miss USA! (Insert Shandi story here) Great show this year and the after parties and costume shows made it an awesome event to attend! Props to Crystle, Max and co. #keepingitreal

  14. I agree with you on judge #2 beard. Like what's going on? I agree with a lot of your observations. I thought the same way with the crown being placed on her head. I missed the 2 girls standing together as well. It was always suspense building. I did miss each girls intro. And yes if they are going to do a man, do a man who is comfortable in front of the camera. I thought your thoughts were right on.

  15. Per usual, Shandi is on point with all the commentary. Loved the opening number (including the outfits), LOVED Zuri Hall (so gorgeous and was really natural with the hosting), hated the male cohost (so awkward and robotic he was) and didn't like the camera movements (too choppy and unprofessional). Overall I give it a B+. It was still a solid first edition under the new leadership of Crystle Stewart, for whom I am stoked that she's now the national director/President of the Miss USA Organization. I can tell that she gets it and will really take the pageant into a new, modern era. I hope she continues to get the support she needs going forward.

p.s. anyone knows why Shandi doesn't do these recaps with Susie Castillo (Miss USA 2003) anymore? Noticed this with the recap for the last Miss Universe edition and now this. If anyone knows why please let me know.

  16. It is so sad that you want these girls to be what you want them to be…what if those girls choose to love how there hair is….and how they looks are how they walk your time was your time compared to now…….different pagant different time…different tage settings…..I have listen to you at times but u come across with me to commanding to what u like and what you this like and how you would want things to happen….if I was an ceo for any pagant I would never want you near my girls………maybe you sees yourself has perfect but non of those girls ent sorry…..

  17. I agree that the first runner up/ winner is suspenseful and the best part of the pageant and it was ommited. THis was a huge mistake. As to the cohost I agree he was boring and awkward but anyone is better than Steve Harvey. Bring back a host like Bob Barker or Dick Clark and I am yaas please

  18. I also do not think that making Miss USA business like is necessary. WHy does the young lady need a porsche and 100k salary> Crystal willl say that this encourages more pageant participation. But that is not the case as unless you are pretty you can be super motivated to win a pageant but chances are you will not. Many are called and few are chosen

  19. Shandi, I agree with most of your commentary; however, Asya put the crown on Miss USA 2021 beautiful locks, she did not plop the crown on the winner's head. Shandi, I was so disappointed in Kansas; her stage presence was unwelcoming, she is so beautiful, and her gown was the most beautiful. I expected Miss Kansas to be in the top five.

  20. Crystle is doing something right…bringing back the state costumes, have the semi-finalists ALL compete in swimsuit and gowns. I think more work and format changes need to be done for the final round. They should just do what Miss Teen USA is doing, narrow down to a top 5, or a top 7 and announce the winner and 4 runner ups like Miss World used to do.

  21. I’m completely agree with your thoughts. I believe Patrick Ta wasn’t the indicated person to host the backstage and giving the insight facts. And I was also shocked when Nevada didn’t make the cut 💔
