Miss USA 2022 will be the 71st Miss USA pageant. The competition will be held in 2022. Elle Smith of Kentucky will crown her successor at the end of the event, and she will go on to represent the United States at the Miss Universe 2022.

The COVID-19 pandemic impacted the duration between most of the state pageants from the previous year’s competition, with previous year’s state titleholders’ reign being shortened to eight to eleven months into their calendar year, depending on state. Delegates from the 50 states and the District of Columbia are selected in state pageants in a period began in September 2021 and scheduled to end in July 2022 to avoid scheduling conflicts with Miss America 2023 state pageants, as the state pageant schedule can become very dense between the last state pageant held from 2021. The first state pageants were Idaho and Montana, held together on September 12, 2021, and the last state pageant was Colorado, held on July 3, 2022.

Starting this year, new rules have implemented as contestants who participated in a state pageant cannot compete for more than one state per year, with the eligibility rules having reverted to the past rule since Crystle Stewart took over the directorship role at the end of 2020. All state pageant competitions were returned to full capacity with spectators and contestants being required to be fully vaccinated.

Eleven delegates have previously competed in Miss Teen USA and Miss America, eight are former Miss Teen USA state winners, two are a former Miss America state titleholders, and one is a former Miss America’s Outstanding Teen state titleholder.

  3. Here are my thoughts on who will be Miss USA 2022! Fact 1: Everyones favourite picks will once again be all wrong. Fact 2: It will be a Latina or Black contestant that wins because most of the contestants come from these ethnic groups. A pure white non- Latino or non-black contestant last won in 2018. Most of the 2010s it's been Latinas or blacks winning Miss USA.

  4. Cmon judges let the white contestant win for a change. These days beauty contests are so racist. Only black contestants seem to win every pageant every year. Young Caucasian girls might give up and stop entering beauty pageants. Maybe it’s time to have a Miss White USA and Miss White America pageants.

  5. I love how everyone is saying that Texas is going to win, well Miss Nevada 2021 didn't place. I'll just sit back and enjoy the show.

  9. OMG, how boring, with the exception of Ohio and Oregon, they all look like stereotypical beauty queens. No diversity at all, why can't pageants move on and have different looks, someone who is plumper, disabled, for starters. Boring, Boring, Boring.
