Being a straight shooter likely shot down any chance Carrie Prejean had of being crowned Miss USA Sunday night. But the Miss California told TODAY Tuesday shes proud she offered her honest opinion on gay marriage, even as her questioner says she should have kept her politics to herself.

Im so proud of myself, Prejean told Matt Lauer live on the TODAY set. I wouldnt change a thing. I knew I had a purpose, and I dont take back what I said.

The often bland goings-on at the annual Miss USA pageant took on a decidedly heated political tone when openly gay celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, a pageant judge, asked Prejean: Vermont recently became the fourth state to legalize same-sex marriage. Do you think every state should follow suit? Why or why not?

Prejean, then among the final five contestants for the coveted crown, replied, In my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but thats how I was raised and thats how I think it should be — between a man and a woman.

Prejeans pointed response raised eyebrows, but didnt raise her enough votes to put a crown on her head. Judge Claudia Jordan told NBC, The judges were really against her, they were bothered by her answer.

Still, Prejean finished first runner-up to Miss North Carolina, Kristen Dalton.

With Prejean saying that she likely would have won had she not spoken so forthrightly, Hilton told TODAY he was offended that she is still walking around saying that she should have won the pageant. And he told Lauer Tuesday via Skype that Prejean had no business offering such an obviously divisive answer to a question she could have easily danced around…(read more at source)

  1. I fucking despise Perez Hilton l, always have, regardless of sexuality. He's a talentless, troublesome hack that managed to stitch a career together from baseless criticism and a Shakesperean ability to play the victim. Fuck him.

  2. Can't knock her for giving her honest opinion that's held by her bonafide religious beliefs. I don't agree with her opinion but I respect it. I don't agree with the gay community or those who disagree with her belief to commit license to tear her down and be vile to her. I think the point that needs to be made not believing in gay marriage doesn't necessarily mean hate gays and this notion is what makes it a trigger for gays, liberals and people who don't share her view to take license to be rude and condemn people like her. Now if opinions like hers enters the judicial arena where laws are impacted by this kind of thinking then it's an issue. Civil rights should trump religious rights when it comes to government and public spaces.

  3. Perez Hilton deliberately set her up. And the way he lit into her afterward was totally not cool! She was completely respectful in her reply, but because she simply dared to have a different opinion they he did, he vilified her for it.

  4. Oh my gosh! the people who reacted towards miss california are just full of themselves.

It was just a fucking opinion……like as if she's really gonna limit on gays' rights to marriage, though.

That was Perez's fault, not her.

  5. She gave her honest answer and it didn't sit well with the gay community, so was she supposed to lie? I mean, people don't have to agree with her answer, just respect that it's what SHE believes in and so do I.

  6. Something is really wrong here, placing an openly gay man as judge on a show like this is already a political decision. Posing such a question where she is supposed to answer according to the liking of a very small minority, hypocrisy. Its an obvious manipulation, a question that shouldn't exist in such a contest.
This is gay lobbying. No space for free speech. Did you ever hear of a straight man or woman as a judge in a gay competition? Of course not, it doesn't make sense, they're not qualified, just like this gay man is not qualified here either.

  7. who cares if she didnt agree with it, its her view everyone is allowed to say what they think it may not be what majority think. perez needs to grow up not everyone thinks like you

  8. P.H is like "if someone doesn't support gay marriage, i hate him/her". I think its so freaking stupid. She's not homophobic, she is just against gay marriage. Shame on you Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr. (and his parents are cuban omg.. my parents are cuban too.. i really really don't like this "guy")

  9. if hilton perez really went to the stage and grabbed her crown if she did win, i'm gonna wait for him outside and punch that bastard out of consciousness.

  10. Oh….I thought this video was about the confirmed liar and porn skank Carrie Prejean who was fired in shame after tampering with her pussy on video.

Not about the honest, relevant question she was asked by Perez Hilton.

  11. " he knew perfectly well not everyone supports same-sex unions."

Just like Carrie knows that not everyone supports the false Christian Porn Skank lifestyle.

Free speech has never offered freedom from accountability.

  12. @jay121495 Why would I, a person who has been alienated by their friends and family, choose something that makes my life a living hell? I like in an Islamic country where something you claim I "chose" is illegal and punishable by prison or even death. I have never been subjected to anything homosexual and yet I knew I was gay before I knew what gay was. Stop asking me for proof that it isn't a choice. You prove to me that it is.

  13. @jay121495 While I know that their is proof, scientifically. I am proof enough. I tried to be straight, attempted to force myself to be attracted to girls. I can't. It's impossible.
It's been this way ever since I can remember. I was born gay. At this point in my life, I love myself. I am amazing and everyone I surround myself loves me for who I am. That's all that matters to me. I couldn't care less if you believe me or care about what I have to say. I just hope that the world will grow up…

  14. Fuck Perez Hilton. It's pathetic I spent a tenth of a second wondering how to spell that flaming assholes last name. I didn't backspace though, so it's all good. Only in america can people like him with no talent or purpose rise up to the masses.

  15. I guess nothing's wrong with her answer. she just gave her opinion about that f*****g judge's question. she did not pretend to answer against what she thought is right just to please the f****r, which i think, is a great answer.

Perez's reaction showed how idiot he is..
