Anneline Kriel (born 28 July 1955) is a South African actress, an international model and beauty queen. She won Miss South Africa and Miss World in 1974 after the UK’s Helen Morgan resigned only four days after her victory. Anneline is the second woman to hold the title of Miss World in South Africa after Penelope Coelen in 1958.

The event was viewed by an estimated 30 million people, and was a “Wide World Special” on the ABC Television Network.

Helen Morgan of the United Kingdom was crowned the winner at the end of the event by Mrs. Julia Morley, becoming the second Welsh and fourth woman from the United Kingdom to win the title. Although it was known to the organizers at the time she was crowned Miss Wales and she was completely open about the issue with the media, Morgan resigned four days later over the intense pressure and media interest in that she had a child as a single mother. The wife of the child’s father had given many media interviews in the hours following the contest, creating extremely negative and lurid headlines.   1. Eric Morley was horrified at the end result of this documentary and I was told by the director Tony Palmer that he had to heavily edit it before it was shown on the BBC. However, this is the full unedited version and a fascinating study of what goes on behind the gloss and glamour of the Miss World pageant.
