They’re the two longest-running and most well-known international beauty pageants around. Both nearing their 70th anniversaries, they have enough history and drama to fill more than one of my videos. Heck, I’m going to do three!
Miss World. Miss Universe. One of them may well be your favourite pageant. I’m not going to convince you one way or another – I’m just going to give you my usual nerdy take on them!
Part 1 of this series looks at the history of both pageants overall – their humble beginnings, growth in contestants and where they’ve been hosted over the years.
Parts 2 and 3 will look at the most successful nations and individual contestants in both pageants. Enjoy!

Miss world’s fast track, head to head & beauty with the purpose also what I love the most. However I still love the pointing system like 2003. Then only top 10 were called as finalists because top 40 is so annoying.
Miss world : deals more with charity
Miss universe : more about championing caused and being a humanitarian

Most Philippines people prefer Miss Universe than Miss World- because they won the most in MU
Most Indian people prefer Miss World than Miss Universe- because they won most in MW

miss universe is way better than miss world because countries know that if ur candidates is the choice of the national director of course she will win even if shes not the best ol pageant cooking show
India was the country with beauty with brain
MISS UNIVERSE is the best. It’s not called the #1 beauty pageant for nothing.
Miss World has good advocacies too, but their show is SOOOO BORING. No evening gown, no swimsuit, and the format is strange. It feels like a badly scripted Big Brothers.

5:51 🇵🇭👑🇵🇭 The First Filipina Miss World 2013 Megan Young who hosted Miss World Beauty Pageant Competition for 6 consecutive years (2014-2019) even during her reign bested 126 other countries and Miss Universe 2018 as the second live coronation show that I've watched in person at Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani, Bangkok, Thailand cheering for Catriona Gray as she beat 96 competiting countries which make it as the best Christmas 2018 gift after my prayers (10 days holy masses in the church) was answered.

For miss world! I love the fast track (talent, social media, sports & top model), head to head & beauty with the purpose round. However the top 40 is so annoying! Better if they follow the old format which is the selection of the top 10 or better to chose top 3 for every regions, like 3 from Asia & oceana 3 from Africa, 3 from Caribbean, 3 from America, 3 from Europe. Then awarding of winner & continental winners as well.
For miss universe, the opening statement & final question for the final 3 are so clever. Also the swimsuit & long gown in one judging, I love that 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

I think the first woman of color to win miss world was miss Venezuela in 1955
According to Julia Morley in an interview with the telegraph UK, Donald Trump offered to buy Miss World Ltd days after Eric Morley died. Both Organizations used to hold franchises for each other's pageant in their home countries. There's a story that in 1955 Eric Morley attended Miss Universe, that's supposedly were he adopted the idea of crowning subsequent Miss Worlds and inviting outgoing queens to do the honors. Before 1955 MW winners would only get a Trophy, robe and sash and stand on a podium.
For me miss universe is more prestige compared to miss world the format of miss world is kinda weird for me, no evening gown, and no swimsuit is kinda off for me all love from the Philippines 🇵🇭

Wouldn’t Akiko Kojima of Japan miss universe 1959 classified the first woman of color to be crowned miss universe tho?
In 1981 Miss World was held outside London in Peru.

Great video! Though I read that MWO never offered the crown to Evangeline Pascual nor offered her to perform the duties of Miss World. That was all in Evangeline's confused head.
8:14 why is she the first woman of color who won when Miss Peru, Colombia won consecutively 1957 and 1958 while 1959 is from Japan’s Akiko Kojima then followed by two latinas, 1 Thai and 2 Filipinos don’t tell they ain’t women of color.

another great video Pageant Nerd! interestingly and perhaps a coincidence, both peak years was won by the Philippines. also, ive been thinking that Miss World is much popular in the African continent, hence more delegates from there? i think there are more networks broadcasting Ms World in Africa and Europe and the Caribbean hence the more candidates from those continents? also, there are countries in Ms World that are somewhat duplicates ( in early Miss Universe too) like Scotland, UK, Jersey? (in 80 and 81) , Wales, Ireland, Northern Ireland.

They are have different advocacy but I like miss world because they choice a winner not base on beauty and one more things they crown different country in one decade
