  1. “I still remember the moment I was crowned the winner of Mrs. World 2022 in Las Vegas. As I walked towards the center of the stage, I thought of my husband, Aditya & my family in Jammu. As they put the crown on my head, I closed my eyes & thanked them for believing in me – even when I didn’t.

Growing up, I was a skinny girl. Once, when I participated in a fashion show, someone said, ‘Yeh matchstick lag rahi hai' & everyone started laughing. It was humiliating & only added to my already low self-esteem. But, over the years, I learnt to put all of it behind me. With my family’s support, I moved on.

My family & friends always said, ‘You should become a model.’ I wanted to become a teacher, so I never took them seriously. But at 25, I randomly came across a modeling assignment. I wasn’t interested but Aditya pushed me. And I realized I loved it–it made me feel beautiful. So, I worked as a teacher full-time in Visakhapatnam & modeled part-time. I was finally at a good place in life. But, when an acquaintance said, ‘Don’t wear such provocative clothes. Act your age,’ I was stunned. I was just 29 or 30 at the time! And comments like that kept coming.

In fact, when Aditya & I decided to get married in 2017, people said, ‘She’s marrying him for status.’ Just because he was a Brahmin & I, a Dalit. It hurt, but I told myself, ‘They will always have something to say.’ I ignored their comments & we got married.

In 2020, Aditya & I moved to Mumbai. That’s when I decided to take a break from teaching & focus on modeling. I was doing well. And 1 evening in 2022, Aditya & I were at home with my best friend when she said, ‘Participate in Mrs. India!’ I had never thought about it, but Aditya urged me to give it a try. I thought, ‘Why not?’

Honestly, I was just there for the experience. I never dreamt of winning the title, especially knowing that we hadn’t won in the last 21 years. But when I won it, oh God! My legs shook as I walked towards the crown. I was filled with a surge of confidence. It took me 32 years to realize that when someone passes comments about you, it’s not about you, but about them. And all I hope is that young girls know that you only need to be who you are.”

  2. Being thin is a privilege in this society which everyone should acknowledge. This might sound harsh but it is the sad and bitter truth. She was able to compete for the title just because she was thin. Any chubby person even though healthy will never win any of these titles.( this is just my opinion)

  3. People have problem with women wearing burka , people have problem with women wearing bikini, shorts , dress and anything. Idk wtf is wrong with all of them

  4.
