  1. The only reason why Janick Maceta lost her chance to bring home the 2nd MU crown for her country is because she only have a good accomplishment from a minor pageant which is MIss Supranational.

  2. 9:06 – Is it coincident or just staged?

The 3 highest placement in this edition of Miss Universe was bagged by 3 women who have a better accomplishment from other pageants. Its happened to be the 2 highest positions are came from a rival pageant Miss WORLD and the 3rd place is from a minor pageant Miss Supranational. Which means the QnA are just simply for show.

  3. How do you define clapper? The only time the Philippines clapped after winning was in 1970. And 2008-2009 was actually Venezuela’s back to back so why is the crown missing in 2009?

  4. In my opinion, this year is the weirdest and worst year for me. Like you said 4 of the top 5 made it to Miss Universe and 12 to be exact. I guess because that the judges are not equal and from other continents. But still, congrats to all!

  5. No offense to anyone but the q and a is the final basis for choosing the winner and not anything else. I believe that if other reasons are used to choose the winner, the whole competition is illogical then. The process becomes useless. 😓

  6. With regards to Miss South Africa, I said it the day she was announced to go to Miss Universe, being second runner up at Miss South Africa, it will hurt her chances at Miss Universe. It’s quite apparent with the creations of many Miss Universe franchise in many countries, it is clear that MUOrg wants top winner to go to their stage hence the breaking of and awarding of franchises to a stand alone pageants like Miss Universe Colombia and Miss Universe Philippines. I also think the Demi Leigh formula is a bad choice for Natasha.Looking at her evening gown performance, she’s clearly trying to do a Demi Leigh strategy.
With regards to the winner, I initially had Miss Peru as a winner and was really outraged when she only came third. But when I watched the pageant again, it became clear why and how Mexico won. I think the judges gave equal amount of importance to the level of tricky-ness of the questions asked and how well the contestants answered it. There’s no questions that Miss Peru answered her questions really well, those type questions have been asked several times in other relevant pageants. While Miss Mexico struggled a bit with her english in the first question, she still managed to compose a decent answer. And she’s really strategic answering her final question in her native language and was able to give a solid answer. I think people are so fixed with the contestants speaking in english. To which I would repeat Janine Tugonon’s final answer in 2012 . “Being Miss Universe is not about learning how to speak a specific language. It’s being able to inspire and influence others. So whatever language you speak, as long as your heart is to serve and you have strong mind to show to people. Then you can be Miss Universe.”
Though this year has a lot of things to improve, it’s quite exciting for me to see an actual competition happening early in the pageant.Unlike the last four editions where Steve Harvey made the first half of the show about him by stealing the spotlight from the contestants.

  7. I don’t care what happens
But i hope Puerto Rico can have the sixth crown in this new decade

    P.R has 2 amazing competitors
So, let’s see how it goes.

  8. All of the Top 5 deserved to win. But she wasn't the best, especially coming from two missions that many trusted in the oratory of India (which took more than a year of preparation). And from the Mexican woman who already demonstrated at Miss World did not have a very good oratory, and they said she was prepared. But Brazil and Peru prepared for the questions. Exclusively to Brazil, which did not have any topic of the ones that were placed that it would not be able to talk about. So much so that it was proven when she answered the first question, which seems to be easy, but she knew how to develop more than a monotonous answer. And when she talked about mental health, it was obvious that she knew because she studied the subject. And it was also shown on Live with Natalie Glebova who broached the subject at the time. So a Miss Universe must be prepared intellectually. Especially when the Miss Universe organization said they wanted a communicative Miss who connects with the public and their culture. Of the 4 Latinas Julia was perfect for this title. She was the only one who always spoke of the union among all the Latin American community, She spoke in Portuguese, English, Spanish, Mandarin and basic German. She also communicates in advanced pounds (in Portuguese language), was learning a little about the countries of the Asian culture, mainly by trying to speak in Filipino, and trying to speak some words of the native language of Thailand, Indonesia, India etc. In the end, she showed, instead of photos, her preparation, performed lives, gave very important speeches during her reign and promoted the union of the Latin American people in a crowd. Just to have an idea, there were practically no Brazilians in the crowd, other countries were cheering for her. In the end that Miss sensational lost was Miss Universe.
