Title: Nice, simple, non-stripping cleanser, but could do without the botanical extracts
Review: I am really passionate about skincare, so I was really excited to write a review for this product. I haven’t used products from Naturopathica before as a brand, so this was my first time using one of their products. This cleanser in particular caught my eye because I struggle from difficult acne and closed comedones, so I thought that switching to a cleanser with 2% salicylic acid would benefit my routine and I’ve been drawn to colloidal silver as an ingredient in wound healing products in the past due to it’s antibacterial properties, so I thought this was an excellent opportunity to see how it might benefit my skin!I have a lot to say about this product, so I’ll summarize my review into what I consider to be the pros and cons of the product, and why I think its well deserving of a 4 star rating, despite my rather strict criteria for what I consider to be good quality skincare products. What I liked about this product:- this cleanser was relatively nice to use and was non stripping! I struggle with extremely dry skin and so do a lot of acne sufferers, and sometimes a foaming cleanser is just too much. I employ a double cleanse system, so I usually cleanse with an oil cleanser and then will follow up with this. I find that using the product in this order really brings out it’s greatest benefits.- the packaging is SUPER nice. I love that the cleanser is packaged in a glass bottle. I am so tired of single use plastics and while the pump is still plastic, using glass really limits the amount of plastic put into this product and makes the bottle easier to clean out and reuse if you’d like! Additionally, this is not a scrub like a lot of salicylic acid cleansers on the market, so no microplastics!- the ingredients are largely kept simple, and use scientifically-supported active ingredients. Salicylic acid has been proven in studies to help unclog pores, and colloidal silver has a proven antimicrobial property! These are awesome active ingredients to have in skincare, and the rest of the ingredients as well are largely unproblematic. There is no fragrance, parfum, linalool, limonene or other known irritating fragrant ingredients in this formula, which my skin LOVES because I do have an extremely sensitive face! This formula didn’t irritate me at all!Potential drawbacks:- While there are no ingredients that are outwardly labeled as irritating fragrances, there ARE a considerable amount of potentially irritating botanical extracts in this formula, such as rosemary oil, spearmint oil and lemon peel oil. I usually try and stay away from these ingredients in my skincare, but since this is a wash-off formula, my skin didn’t seem to have an issue with it. If this product were to be reformulated, however, I would be more likely to repurchase if they dropped these ingredients!- The formula doesn’t really foam, which I appreciated, but some people might not like this. If you wear a lot of makeup or sunscreen, I find that this cleanser really isn’t strong enough to break up the product on your face by itself. You really NEED to double cleanse, with this as a second cleanser if you want to use it on a regular basis, or for your nighttime routine.- The size of the bottle, and price for the amount you’re getting. The bottle is about 5 oz, which is modestly sized, but I find I need at LEAST 2 pumps to be able to cleanse my entire face every time I wash, which will likely have me going through this product pretty quickly. At $38 for 5oz, this is pretty spendy if you’re going to be repurchasing this on a monthly or even bi-monthly basis! However, I suppose the price can be justified as it’s really the only cleanser I could find online that is formulated with both salicylic acid AND colloidal silver, so if the silver is a make-it-or-break-it game changer in your skincare routine, this may be your only option.I haven’t been able to assess whether or not the cleanser has helped clear my acne yet, as it’ll take another month or two of use to really see, but I can tell that this cleanser hasn’t irritated my skin or made anything worse, which is saying a lot! If you’re able to handle the price for the amount in the bottle and you’re hoping to give colloidal silver in an easy-to-use, gentle non-stripping formulation that shouldn’t irritate sensitive skin, this Naturopathica cleanser is for you!

Title: Really Nice Cleanser That Smells Great!!!
Review: I really like this facial cleanser and I have been trying out many different kinds.Packaging- The box is simple, but nicely designed. I love the dark blue glass bottle with pump.Size- I’m happy with the size of 150ml for the product, especially since I have found you really don’t need much. A little goes a long way for me- I think the fact that I use a little silicone brush pad helps a lot with that.Scent- This is probably my favorite thing about this product. It smells so good!! I think the most prominent smells are the lemon peel oil and spearmint peel oil.Gentle- My skin is sensitive and I have eczema, but I have had absolutely no reaction or any irritation to this product at all. It feels great on my skin. It hasn’t felt overly- drying to me.Ingredients- The ingredients seem pretty straightforward to me which I like and there are many ingredients I really love. This has 2% salicylic acid which my skin has always responded well to.Effective- This really leaves my skin feeling so clean without drying it out excessively. It has a consistency similar to some regular hand soaps and lathers/foams up pretty nicely when I scrub gently onto my face. (I use a small little silicone brush pad- it may not lather up as well with just fingers) My favorite way to use this product is to first do a quick but thorough wash of my face in the shower and then follow up with this, gently using circular motions and really working it around the skin. Then I just leave it on my face for the remainder of my shower and wash off at the end so it has as much contact time as possible. The smell is even stronger when used in a nice hot shower- I love it.*I just realized that the directions state to first create a fine lather in your hands and then massage onto dry face and then rinse off- how odd. Anyway, I haven’t tried it like that yet, but I will to see what it is like.I haven’t been using this product for a very long time and I also have been trying many new products so I can’t really speak to its true effects on acne. What I can say is that my skin has been improving so much recently with all the changes I have made and this is not hindering that process. If anything, it is really helping.I would definitely recommend this product to others. Currently listed at $38, it is a little pricey in my opinion, but I think it will last me a long time with the way I use it, so I may just have to order it again when I’m out. I’ll be sure to update this review if any issues arise.

Title: Not for Very Sensitive Skin
Review: I don’t have sensitive skin but do have an oily t-zone and suffer from break outs on my chin from time to time. I have found salicylic acid is effective in preventing and treating breakouts. This cleanser contains the standard 2% strength. It also lists colloidal silver as an ingredient. I’m not overly impressed with the results. I think it does a good job of cleaning my skin and I do believe the colloidal silver may actually help in the healing of any acne. It wasn’t overly drying but the bottle does state that if you use other acne treatments, it could cause your skin to dry out. The bottle also states it isn’t suited for very sensitive skin. This cleanser is pretty expensive and I’m not confident it is worth the price. I also wasn’t impressed with the scent. It smelled a bit too medicinal for my liking.
