Nia Franklin: Newly Crowned Miss America Speaks Out on ‘GMA’

In a celebratory atmosphere filled with excitement and hope, newly crowned Miss America Nia Franklin made her national television debut on “Good Morning America” shortly after her landmark victory. Franklin, a talented singer and advocate from New York, not only captured the crown but also the hearts of viewers with her inspiring message about the importance of representation and empowerment.

During her appearance, Franklin shared her journey, emphasizing the dedication and hard work that led her to this moment. “Winning Miss America is not just about glitz and glamour; it’s about using this platform to uplift others,” she stated, illustrating her commitment to advocating for the arts and education.

Franklin’s platform, “The Arts: A Pathway to Healing,” reflects her passion for music and the transformative power of the arts. She spoke candidly about her personal connection to the arts and how they can be a source of healing and empowerment, particularly for young people facing challenges in their lives. Through her initiatives, she hopes to support music education programs that foster creativity and self-expression in children.

Representation played a pivotal role in Franklin’s message. As the first Miss America of African American descent in almost two decades, she expressed the importance of diversity in beauty pageants and society at large. “It’s crucial for young girls to see themselves represented in the media and in leadership roles,” she remarked, advocating for a more inclusive approach to beauty standards.

As she prepares for the year ahead, Franklin is enthusiastic about her role as a mentor and role model. Her deep passion for her initiatives, combined with her charismatic presence, promises to make her reign impactful. Aiming to engage with communities nationwide, she plans to tackle issues such as mental health awareness and youth empowerment through the arts.

In a world that often struggles with division, Nia Franklin stands as a beacon of hope and inspiration. 7. Nia represents what miss America stands for. She is incredibly smart and I wish her the best year of service. However you need to not disprove what Cara said, and nia did what was right, she never threw cara under the bus.

  8. The reason why she is Miss America because there are at least 2 black judges. They were so biased. There were 3 black finalists out of 5. This was the most biased MIss America I had seen. I wonder if she will win without those 2 black judges.

  9. Getting to know her a little better with this intervew, I am happy that she won. I personally love people who are involved with music. These types of people are great, focused and determined. I dont want to be seen as a racist when I say I was shocked to see how good she was with her opera performance. I like her even more now cause she is so humble…… you go Nia !!!

  10. She is so beautiful – inside and out. We need more dark-skinned black women like her being promoted.

  11. People not being judged based on beuty=Only Beutiful woman participate. What a shallow and hipocritical society. I don't really give a shit,it is a beuty contest that is alright by me. But when everybody pretends this is about ideas….it screams faux virtue signaling.

  12. This comment section is full of racist being glad she won because of the colour of her skin. How can you have a beuty contest not based on beuty? Also this is so bullshit. You realize she is pretty right? How is this competition not about physical apparence? It is still about beuty, otherwise it would have been won by some woman scientist. What a fuckinh hipocritical and racist society.

  13. "I felt out of place because people didn't have the same colour of skin as I" You are so fucking racist. Fuck you racist bitch.

  14. "Contestant on a beuty contest will not be judged on their phisical appearence". This is what happens when you give crazy people power.

  15. Its unfair that there arent any modgets in this. Do you all have something against midgets in swimsuits????

  16. You suck it should have been a white girl should have won, that's why the pageant rating didn't do well . It did not get the ratings they wanted

  17. It's amazing that of the last 4 Miss Americas from NY—NONE of them are actually from New York.  A little bit of a ringer here?????

  18. What a year Omarosa is having–first a best selling tell all  book, and now she's Miss America.  PS:  CT was a lot better.

  19. Screw JCP. We don't watch ads that jack our shows. We boycott those companies. No idea about the show. Jacked by JCPenny.
