Nanalo si Gemma Cruz sa pageant na ginanap sa USA noong 1964 at si Aurora Pijuan naman ang nanalo noong 1970 at ginanap ang pageant sa Tokyo. Melanie Marquez is not the first Filipina to become Miss International. Prior to her victory on 1979, Gemma Cruz ( Great Granddaughter of Jose Rizal) became the first Miss International from the Philippines in 1964 and Aura Pijuan in 1970.
