Ah, the disclosure. I’m not sure that I really have that after 5 years of “recovery”! After going through counseling, many videos on betrayal, retreats, books and a formal disclosure process, I’m still stuck. The reason is, after the first 2 1/2 years of questioning my unfaithful husband about my discovery of his affair, he kept telling me that he told me everything. He even swore on the Blood of Jesus! Then, during a 17 week course on infidelity with Affair Recovery, he dropped a bombshell confession on me! He hadn’t told me everything! He’d been lying to me for that 2 1/2 years by omitting more facts. So, now we’re at the 5 year mark and his behavior hasn’t improved much since then. All his confession did was return all of my efforts to heal back to the first D-day! His new (and only) confession had more holes in it than Swiss cheese and brought up a whole new set of questions that he couldn’t explain properly. How can I ever believe anything that he says now?
