Back in 1983, Vanessa Williams was the first African American woman to be crowned Miss America. She was unfortunately stripped of her title because Penthouse magazine published unauthorized nude photographs of her. She has since received an apology from Miss America CEO Sam Haskell, but Williams has had to face hardship and obstacles before and after her crowning as Miss America 1984. Williams has had a successful career as an actress and singer but has faced hurdles along the way. To that end, we’ve made a video that takes deep dive into the sad tragedies that have surrounded Vanessa Williams throughout her life.

  1. The photos were a calculated move. 🙂 By "her people". Got her the notoriety she needed and publiscity to lauch her entertainment career. Had she not done thos ephotos she would have been forgotten in 6 months…after the Miss America win…who remembers the winer??

Teh "career moves" some women are willing to take…e.g. 2 millionairesses who still made sex tapes to "lauch their careers"…WORKED for them too. Ironically neither of htem had to go into hiding. Nor their families. Funny the world we live in today….one of htem still gets air time on tabloid entertainment shows. One of the two has been staying out of the spotlight for several years…maybe the embarrassment has caught up to her and her family.

Why did these 2 girls do it? They didn't need the money. Just wanted the "fame"??? The notoriety?? Now they have to cary around that "history"….as said in the film Gladiator "…verything we do echo's an eternity".

  2. Not black, but her mother is you are whom your daddy is, apparently her dad was white – Edomite red leprosy skin so she's a EDOMITE😔

  3. I bet she wouldn't join their "Big Club", the satanic death cult of Hollywood, and that's why she was exposed and threatened! That's how they work…..

  4. Vanessa Williams is as beautiful a woman ever created. I appreciated this closer glance at her life and legacy. I knew so little of her and still do.

  5. wow she's lived such a full life full of tragedies and triumphs, and still she's so resilient and dignified!

  6. Thank you for the story it was well told and sad and Vanessa is always so gracious and so beautiful she has a wonderful spirit she’s a child of God she is blessed and we love her

  7. That goes to show you that racism is still in full effect even in the 80s. F@&!#ing sad to be racist and be a “born for nothing” individual

  8. ALRIGHT, LOOK. I WILL ALWAYS LOVE VANESSA LYNN WILLIAMS SO VERY MUCH, BECAUSE SHE'S THE BEST SUPER TALENTED SINGER/MOVIE ACTRESS IN THE WORLD.

  9. When you're of the Catholic Faith, you can't be pro-choice.
If you do, you're a heretic and anathema.
Repent truly, Vanessa. Stop smearing The Lord's church.

  10. I never knew she was black. I just thought it was one of those old white ladies who sunbathe too much
