My Covid19 Story: Not only do I train at a circus arts studio but I attend a performing arts middle school/high school so when school was shut down too ALL my in person trainings stopped. My circus arts studio offered some online classes but for the first part of the shut down my school was not virtual. I had to do a lot of research to find what would be the best way for me to train while at home (which isn’t easy when you don’t have 20 foot ceilings or any apparatus). Thankfully there were many circus artists, dancers, etc. offering classes and trainings online. I took as many as I could so that I would be ready when the time came to go back into the studios! I am also lucky enough to have a lot of items here to help me-a ballet bar, canes, blocks, a pull up bar, my unicycle, mats, and walls-lol! I don’t need anything to stretch so that was something I could make sure to do everyday. My circus arts studio has opened (then closed) and opened again very recently and I REALLY hope it stays open. That has helped a lot. I haven’t been able to return to in person school though. I miss dancing and training with friends and peers so much! Although this is the hardest thing ever, I feel like I have ‘met’ so many circus artists and performers, through social media, from parts of the country and the world that I probably would not have had this not have happened.
