USA Basketball is not going to win World Cups anymore if they send their C and D teams. Back in the days they could get away with that in the Olympics with amateur and college players, but not anymore. If the emphasis is only in the Olympics, then prestige of USA basketball is being lost in the world championship. It isn't really a surprise that Spain and Germany ended up winning the FIBA world cup in the past 2 tournaments. Last performance was an embarrassment for team USA basketball. NBA players don't value as much international duty as playing for their club team.
USA is a super power in the Summer and Winter Olympics and many sports. Basketball is one sport USA has a strong tradition. Now considering the past world championships, USA performances is embarrassing. It seems team USA is only sending their A team to the Olympics. USA isn't going to win World Cups sending college players, amateurs or reserves from the NBA with their C and D Teams. It is why teams like Spain and Germany ended up as world champions. It is a shame, as I would have liked to seen the USA basketball program give equal importance to the FIBA world cup as the Olympics.

It's not evolution people. It doesn't work like that. It's their best against our mediocre. Players oversea didn't get better, more players just learned how to PLAY. But America lost in the 70's and 80's too, before we start sending our best with the DREAM TEAM.

Team USA should and could have easily won this game. Germany wanted it more. You can't underestimate the fastest PG on the league Dennis The Menace either. He's coming out to win. They used great ball movement and were the only team out there that looked as if they even cared and we still almost beat them?? Lol Where was the heart and determination? Did they think they wouldn't play harder in the finals?? Germany came put prepared to win. We came out expecting another easy victory. Big difference and the downfall of this team.. It's ashame and disgraceful to do so well. Then allow yourself to fall to Germany of all team's.. smdh USA failed us and you didn't step up when it counted the most. Your lack of passion and experience showed that night.. Idk what it was, but I saw a disconnected mess out there. Maybe the coaches fault as well. Could have put a better group to start. They've never played the best lineups imo.
I really hope usa starts to see the light soon, and brings relegation to its big leagues!

OK finally can we have a stop to the anointing of ANT as the next bona-fide top 5 talent in the league if he can't carry this squad to a W they should have definitely been capable of securing.
Athleticism and electric jumping off the screen plays only get you so much and that is not a recipe for rings or necessarily greatness. Any player who puts up the sheer volume of shots like ANT should be able to secure similar statistics. Winning and being the engine behind that ability to win is a whole different breed. I cant count the amount of "experts" who drool over what I see to be a very good, athletic, entertaining young player. Top 25 in the league, stop crowning him as next up please. I will take him on my squad all day. As my #1 I'll pass.
