The latest episode in my TPN by Request series covers those nations with the dubious distinction of having never placed at Miss Universe. There are in fact dozens of countries that fall into that group – some by the mere fact they’ve competed at Miss Universe only a handful of times. But there are indeed a dozen nations with more than 15 appearances each, and not a single placement between them.

Which nations are they? Check out this video to find out!

  1. The research that you do and your very intellectual approach is such a welcome surprise. I am guessing I'm not the only one based on the comments I see here. Thank you, and keep it up. Love watching your eduvideos. Far from what other content creators does.

  2. "Viva la noche
    What a beautiful night
79 young ladies from countries big and small
    Viva la noche
    we are gathered tonight
to say "bienvenidos" welcome one and all
Come on and join us everyone
You see before the night is done
There's a title to be won
But now its time to celebrate
    And we can hardly wait
    The fun has just began
    Viva la noche
    What a wonderful night
    May it last forever
    And never go away
    Viva la noche
    What a beautiful sight
All of us together let the music play
We shout "Ole" with a cheer
    The time is drawing near
Its the moment of the year
    Viva la noche
    Viva la noche
    Tonight Miss Universe is here
    All night is here
    VIVA LA NOCHE!"

Hands down my super all time favorite Miss Universe opening number OF ALL TIME!!!, the mexicans put up a fantastic, beautiful number for the 42nd edition of the pageant.
    Bravo!, Kudos!, to Mexico.
    P.S. I also loved Panama 1986, Mexico 1989, Thailand 1992

  3. That's why I love MISS EARTH, they are not based on popular country instead on the advocacy of a candidate. Some countries have chances to win even they're not popular in pageant industry great example is BELIZE

  4. A few of the high profile nations who have not won Miss Universe yet are: Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, England. I have to admit that contestants from a few nations don't stand realistic chances.

  5. For countries that have never placed at all, why do you think this happens? If decades after decades many of them do not place, why do you think they keep joining pageants? What’s the advantage of continuously joining a pageant where you keep losing and not even get in the Top 20 at all? Is it fair to call it quits after so many years/decades of unplacement?

  6. I am a Filipino and we admit we are the #1 fan of Miss U… each year we always claim our delegate always automatically make the cut and win the title just like for our own Celeste Cortesi who will compete in the 71st edition on January in New Orleans…No offense meant but, I feel the new management will be a game changer that, underrated and long overdue candidates will
be given equal and fair opportunity this time esp. this 2020s decade.

  7. Hi TPN. I believe you've missed some information in the history of MU. Please make a review on this matter from one of the youtube channels showing these years and winners that MU has purportedly have actually started in 1926.
    1926- USA- Catherine Moylan
    1927-USA- Dorothy Britton
    1928-USA- Ella van Hueson
    1929-Austria- LisL Goldarbeiter
1930-Austria- USA- Dorothy Dell Goff (held in USA)
1930-Brazil- Yolanda Pereira( held in Brazil)
    1931-Belgium- Nella Duchateau
    1932-Turkey- Keriman Halis Ece
    1933 and 1934 no contest
    1935-Egypt- Charlotte Wassef
    1936 to 1951 no contest
Then in 1952 it resumed and won by Finland- Armi Kuusela And most people recollection have started from this year until now. So how do you comment on this and possibly make a video to clarify on this matter that most people mislead or maybe make some amendments if there are that is needed to be more accurate. Thank you and looking forward to hear from you soonest possible.
    1926-

  8. TPN, I love this kind of videos. Needless to say, it's very nerdy. I'm thinking though, is there a leaf in your book about patterns? I know you've touched a bit about it in your past videos but some fans are now co-relating similar patterns for winners and fate of candidates. Like those lucky charm candidates for Big 4 winners from same country.

  9. Miss Universe Malta 2022 is one promising girl and an early front runner for the 71st Miss Universe pageant, hope she make history for her country. I also hope certain island nations, Asian and African countries will earn a semifinal slot in the future. If Trinidad & Tobago, Aruba, Turks & Caicos, Haiti (island nations), Vietnam, Singapore, Nepal (Asian nations) and Angola, Botswana and Namibia (African countries) did it, so can Bermuda, Malta, Laos, Cambodia, East Timor Leste, Cote' d Ivoire, Zimbabwe, Egypt, Iran, Bahrain, Jordan, Palestine and Somalia. Miss Anne of JKN puts emphasis on the presence of multi – culturalism in the pageant. Diversity will spice things up in Miss Universe.

  10. NICE! you featured the memorable and iconic opening numbers of MU.

But i noticed that you never include 1996's "ELECTRIC" opening number.
That was one of the classic beautiful opening number in MU history which ALICIA MACHADO participated.

  11. I just wanted to explain something relating to this video – namely, why I devoted so much time at the start of the video to the opening numbers, when the video topic was non-placing nations. In short, I wanted to feature the opening numbers with all the contestants performing together at the beginning of finals night when anticipation and excitement is at an early high, with every contestant hopeful of being called as one of the semifinalists. I used these clips to exemplify the hope felt by all nations, especially those yet to enjoy success at Miss Universe.

  12. I love the classic Miss Universe opening dance numbers especially the ones hosted in Asia. 1987, 1988 and 1994 were all fantastic. As for the placements, I wish these countries finally place! I think one country besides The Bahamas who also broke that long no-placement streak was Portugal in 2011. And she placed through fan vote and coincidentally, hosted in Brazil.

  13. I love all your videos! My suggestion, do a video on the possible "sandwich winners"… As in those who had a strong chance.
My personal ones are Venezuela 1998 (Veruzhka Ramirez), PR 2008 (Kany Garcia even though she didn't place) and Colombia 2016 (Andrea Tovar)

Also one on the contestants that had a high chance of placing but didn't eg, Mariam Habach in 2016

  14. You should do a video on territories that’s are now part of another country. Like France, USA, GB, Netherlands. Because if you count them, then most of them would be crossed off too. France has a lot of oversea queens who represent them and in 1997 MU was from Hawaii.
