  1. I love hearing your thoughts about this, and you make some great points about short form content. I don’t particularly care for shorts, reels and TikTok videos for makeup reviews. I’d much rather watch a longer YouTube with an in depth review, ESPECIALLY for foundation (like you mentioned)

  2. Your intentionalist view of beauty is so refreshing! You are inspiring me to push my intentional minimalism journey into my beauty collection too. ❤️

  3. Really enjoyed this one and would really like to see more videos recreating now looks with things you and me and all of us proprably already have. I also would like to see more videos using older eyeshadow palettes. We should learn to enjoy what we already have and not always look for the next best thing, like this would solve all our problems. When I was younger I bought a lot of make up just because I could, without thinking about how long it would take to use it up. It never occured to me to think about that part. It was always about bying new stuff. Content like yours makes me more aware of what I did in the past. These days I rotate through the collection I have. I am able to enjow waring make up without having the urge to buy new stuff all the time. So thanks to you and all the other creators showing the is a way in between beeing passionate about make up without overspending and in the end wasting so much money and also producing so much waste just in the name of beauty.
    Greetings from Germany 🤗

  4. Hi Kelly! I just found you through some of your Rise and Fall videos. I wanted to thank you for the conversation around not buying things we don’t need because we already have enough! I’ve found myself doing something similar recently and I really appreciate the reminder.

  5. Honestly you make such a good point with how we don't even consider how insanely expensive eyeshadow is/has become in the past decade. Thanks for talking me out of my impulse buy lol

  6. Ok but thank you soooo much for reminding me that I don't need to buy everything that I might like! I already have products that I like and that will probably look the same or at least very similar so I don't need new products!!

  7. Something that helps me is thinking about my budget. As a single woman living in Columbus, OH I spend around 100/week on groceries and household products. Do I want to be spending more than half of that budget on a single eyeshadow palette?? No! If I do, I wait. Usually I can find great deals on unused products on Poshmark or Mercari at drugstore prices! That's how I fell in love with ABH modern renaissance for only 10$!

  8. I’d love to see videos of you using products you already have in order to keep yourself from buying new products to help show us that we don’t need the new “it” palette/blush/etc. to achieve a certain look.

  9. I was tempted to try the Mario foundation but since they don't seem to have a light medium foundation I'm with a olive undertone, I'mpassingon it. The 1st olive one they have is a MEDIUM. That means even if I do love the formula, I would have to buy two to mix.

  10. Me: Not buying that Mario Palette for $68
Also Me: Continues to treat myself to one Tom Ford quad a year for $90.

Btw the Mario palette looks similar to the Natasha Denona Glam Palette, which I already have. I like Rare Beauty, but prefer liquids, gels, creams and glaze highlighters not powder because I like more of a dewy highlighter not a shimmery one. Shimmer always emphasizes texture on me.

  11. That's why I don't watch short-form contents. You never know how something wears throughout the day. Always go for YouTube all-day wear tests with check-ins throughout the day. Anyway, thank you for this video Kelly, you're like my drill master drilling me to not spend on things I don't "need"….

  12. I’ve started mixing foundations I already have to darken or lighten the color and formula – like L’Oréal serum thins out thicker foundations so they go on thinner and last longer. I thought the same thing about Tarte wand.

  13. It hurts me to buy a mainstream (ie, big brands) palette over $30 All my high end palettes I've bought secondhand or discounted. It boggles my mind that people are down to pay close to $70 for a palette, let alone the 100+ that a big Natasha or a Pat palette costs.
An indie that has a smaller-thus-costlier production and/or special materials I can get it might cost around 40 or 50 dollars, but others? Like pat and charlotte and natasha? It feels like they're overinflating the price for funsies. And the makeup by mario feels to me like just another nude palette, and not a "yes it's basic but works amazing" like the cp not a box of chocolates. It looks like the makeup personification of "yas girl give us nothing"

  14. Would love to see more videos like this and more of which similar products you’re reaching for instead. I’m curious about which color corrector you used under that elf brighter and which ones you’d recommend. I’m in search for a good one

  15. The KVD Good Apple is good and is one of my very few favs, but the way it was described by many YouTubers made me expect a different sort of product that at first made me disappointed. It was only when I started using it again a year later that I started loving it, the reviews did not describe it accurately, and as a result, they actually made me undeservedly not use it correctly and initially felt let down.

  16. This is why I prefer long form content. Even on YouTube I don’t like first impressions because it’s not a proper review in my opinion. The gasping at foundations that people haven’t even blended out yet is a huge pet peeve of mine. Glad you mentioned it 😂

  17. I LOVE doing cost per use/cost per wear! Your channel is the absolute best. I appreciate how much you discuss using what we have and love. Over the past year, I have curated my collection down to what I love. I went from over 130 eyeshadow palettes alone to 10 now, and it makes me so happy to have what I love and not be overwhelmed trying to use them all.

  18. Am just at the beginning of your video, and those Natasha Denona palettes are 87$ where I live , pat mcgrath is 174$ dont even gete started on indie brands cause those are highend prices here plus the 45$ shipping fee and then the customs fee which goes by the price and weight of the product… Those affiliate codes dont really do a whole lot they're just as jokey as the sephora vib sale tbh in my opinion …
For reference to the indie brand part of my comment a cheap 20$ palette can wind up being 90$ in total where I live after customs and conversion rates and shipping fees… A 45$ dollar palette to most in the U.S is 75$ where I live … I am only bringing this up because I feel like these things should be brought up on youtube… the buy buy buy on youtube has gotten so out of control and true no buys and low buys are great but difficult to find since everyone and their moms mom jumped on that bandwagon to get a piece of the pie and not all are there because they are truly on a low buy / no buy theyre there cause thats what gets views ….
I guess one could say at this point I am just frustrated with youtube in general

  19. I actually love the Mario foundation. But, I didn't even know it was popular, or new lol. I just like his stuff. Same as a fenty or nars product. They work for my skin for some reason.

  20. I did get the rare beauty highlight but only because I got a gift card for Xmas and I only own one other highlighter and I’ve had it for a very long time. I’ve been in a much more no buy attitude in general regarding makeup these days. The heart blushes tempted me but like you said a heart package doesn’t really matter
